I've never been rejected before. Be clear and concise when u submit your claim, straight to the point. Don't confuse them. And don't use apple watch/particular device alr if this is smth that u know is causing a lot of issues

Machiam bluff ppl got money lor. Clearly says rejected.

Is there a reason stated for the rejection. Nobody here is accusing u of lying. Rather we are surprised since there are not many precedent. Also, I believe we are here to chip in to assist. However, too little info is given. I have always been selecting gate fare error. By looking at the timing of clocking out at 00:00 already gave them the hint that the fare gate did not capture the tap out. I dun see why they will reject this type of claim.

Exactly. What are the chances of tapping out at exactly 12mn? Do trains even operate at that hour?

Stinks of dishonesty IMO. Using myself as an e.g. instead of $1.26 i get charged $2.10 on the pretext i did not tap in or tap out. Extra 84c to work & extra 84c back home. $1.68 may not sound like much but multiply that by half of SimplyGo users & god knows how many times a week, its good profit!

Some forumers have already said “small amount” so they don’t even care. Others are not aware that they are charged extra. Contrary to some blaming apple pay, others have reported same issue when tapping with

If i really did not tap in or tap out, then faregate should NOT open like with EZlink card. Allowing me entry, showing bank card on the faregate screen then charging me for full trip is busok to the max!

I would not even suggest ppl upgrade their EZlink card to the account based on in case there is similar problem.

after nearly a year from the date of this thread.. the SimplyGo system remains as unreliable as before with several instances of over-charging over the months due to 'Missing Exit's despite successful tapping and transactions recorded on my GrabPay app.

of course I had to keep submitting claims but it is the regular scrutinizing that irks me - keep having to check the app for any 'missing exit' and then have to wait for days to resolve the claim.

although each claim amount is small - just imagine how much the transport companies are leeching from unknowing customers who don't bother to check the app or don't even realise they were being overcharged.

multiply by the number of trips made each day by the millions of passengers... it's really shocking nothing was done to improve the reliability of the system.

Ask people how much they lost the same way through EZ-Link. No difference, no tap = missing on exit. Tapping multi cards worse, maybe multiple charges or no tap.

Not sure if any of you encountered this but here’s my experience so no one else gets overcharged or double charged.

So i’ve been using my apple watch to tap in & out for months now & yes i do get sms alerts but call it carelessness or other wise, I didn’t notice $4.20 was deducted on most days!

I checked the SimplyGo app & it claimed i missed entry or missed exit. Which is rubbish because if i miss entry then how do i tap out? Its physically impossible!

So clearly despite the faregate opening & my apple watch beeping to indicate transaction, the stupid SimplyGo system doesn’t recognise most of it.

The other thing i noticed was on 2 occasions both my cards were charged! I have 2 credit card registered to ApplePay on my apple watch but only one card can be used each time. You can’t simultaneously select both cards. Yet they claimed i took the mrt at 12 midnight and made a deduction on the OTHER credit card which is neither the default card in ApplePay nor the default card in SimplyGo app!

I’ve started monitoring every transaction daily now & any more screws ups i’ll switch back to EZLink. SimplyGo is a good concept but execution is sh*t!
It's a common. Make sure you check every transaction. Not sure if this happens on ezlink card as most don't really check.

I used Samsung pay no such issue... only once I tried to tap before alighting the bus but no response so no choice I didn't "exit" so charge full fare... until simplygo capture the error I go and send a request on the transaction filling up the reason n exit and they refund me accordingly

It happened again... Today. Different bus. Quite sick of the missing exits. Why it doesn't capture missing entrance, I wonder. Is this their way of stealing passengers' monies because those Missing Exits always lead to overcharging?

SimplyGo simply sucks.

Frequent public transport passengers should really scrutinize the transactions carefully and report any overcharging.

I'm thinking of reverting back to Ezlink. Never had issues with Ezlink before. Anyone fed up with SimplyGo?

How do you know EZ-Link has no such issue? Do you track EZ-Link charges religiously?

this is a very serious allegation and you need to be able to substantiate if not you should moderate what you say.

can be sued for defamation so I suggest you edit your post.

1. It was phrased as a question, so it is not 'allegation' per se.
2. What I said about overcharging is not falsehood.
3. Do you work for LTA? If so, please ask your CEO to reply to my feedback email sent a few days ago. I can't wait to 'substantiate' my posts.

you are insinuating they are stealing

it is a rhetorical question with the effect of being a statement.

I have no issues with Simplygo, on both Visa and Mastercard. Only had missing exit once but I think that was my fault for following too closely to the person in front at the MRT station. I saw on the screen "Error", logged in and submitted claim online.

Still can earn cashback on DBS Live Fresh card. I like.

I strongly advise all SimplyGo users to scrutinize their transactions to prevent LTA or the transport companies from overcharging you without you knowing...

Sharing with ya here the two separate logs - one from the SimplyGo and one from GooglePay* which is tagged to my UOB card for SimplyGo transactions.

As can be seen from the two logs above, when I tap my phone to disembark the bus at 17:59 (5.59pm), it was captured on my GooglePay* app and the card reader on the bus also shows the tick (OK).

However, the log in SimplyGo shows a 'Missing Exit'.

As a result, the cost of the trip (and subsequent trips) are wrongly computed, resulting in overcharging. Based on the example above, the cost of the trip should be $1.88 (from LTA fare calculator) but I was charged $1.97.

If there is one thing I wish LTA could implement to is to send passenger a SMS text / email that their record shows a Missing Exit instead of keeping silent. Yes there are some people who really forget to tap out but it does not mean those who did tap out but still wrongfully slapped with a Missing Exit should not be alerted. By not sending any alert and expect end user to ownself check every single transaction, are they not fraudulently pocketing the overcharge amount?

How many (out of the millions of passengers) actually download and use the SimplyGo app? Do they know they have been overcharged?

*updated: not GrabPay but GooglePay

I don’t know what GrabPay has to do with this. There are a few possibilities.

1. Whatever showing correct one did not do the job to respond to SimplyGo properly to commit the transaction. One example could be Apple Pay received a request from the reader, but did not respond to the reader in time as the user has left and too far away for the reader to receive the response from Apple Pay. NFC only works in very short distance and not that fast.
2. SimplyGo takes a while to reconcile all transactions. It will correct itself in the next few days. It happens.

I like your optimism but for me it has NEVER corrected itself once the charge has been billed to my card (after a few days). The box will turn from black to green, meaning it has been finalised and charged (and it has been posted on my credit card as well).

That is when I have to submit a claim to refute the charge and then process the refund. Overall each refund takes around 5 to 7 days from the day I took the bus.

Imagine all the trouble it takes to claim back a few cents. Maybe this is why most people don't care and this is why they keep quiet all these while? But if you multiply the cents by the millions of trips each day on public transport, how much more did they actually pocketed from passengers from all the overcharging?

It is the same for EZ-Link. And it is more troublesome to track and know you have been charged wrong fare.

I would suggest that at the minimum you wait for the reader to show “bank card” before removing your card, phone or watch or whatever. Don’t ever tap your wallet. Heed the advice everywhere, “take out your card and tap”.
