It's all-cash offer of S$2.36 or S$2.40 per share comprising S$1.602 cash and 0.782 of an SPH Reit unit

>Expected date of despatch of Election Forms to Eligible Shareholders: Thursday, 14 April 2022

>Expected latest date and time for submission of Election Forms Tuesday, 26 April 2022 at 5.00 p.m.

>Latest date for the crediting of the SPH REIT Units to Shareholders who have elected (or are deemed to have elected) to receive the Cash and Units Consideration and latest date for the payment of the Cash Consideration Wednesday, 11 May 2022.

thinking which option to choose

Personally, I wish there was a 3rd option where I can elect to take all SPH REIT (but I'm probably one of the very few who would have opted for it) :s13:

Most would take cash. I am taking the defaulted option.

Odd lots are simple to manage as long as you top it up to board lots during the typical 'no commission' concession period.

What to do for the odd lot? How to cash out?

You will either need to sell it away or top-up to the nearest board lot (of 100s)

You can do that with a few online brokerages like POEMS, OCBC and UOB KH.

(Personally, I highly recommend POEMS)

Usually, there will be a 1-month concessionary period for you to trade the odd lots with no brokerage (You still need to pay the related SGX charges and GST)

I strongly suggest that if you end up with odd lots (following such corporate exercise) to top up/sell away to the next board lot. This will make your future decision regarding the stock easier to manage.

I know there is a school of thought that says it doesn't matter if you 'never' intend to sell. So ultimately it is up to you which school you are a student of.

Thanks. But I calculate based on .97 SPH Reit price now. The Option total price is almost the same as $2.36. So seems cash more worth.

Correct. That's because the price of SPH REIT has dropped since the offer was made.

Frankly, if you have no SPH REIT to begin with, I would strongly suggest you take cash.

But (if like me) you have SPH REIT in your portfolio, you may want to consider adding by taking cash + SPH REIT.

I actually think that post-acquisition, regardless of whether a chain offer needs to be made, SPH REIT will eventually be divested.

The properties in the REIT are sold and the proceeds are returned to unitholders via distributions.

And if the REIT becomes a shell company, it will be delisted eventually (or another entity can do a RTO)

There is a precedence for this. Saizen REIT was delisted in this manner.
