Maybe they have a record that you have been issued with a Singtel Mesh Router (or other newer router) in the past.
I haven't been issued one since 2018... And it was the usual router, not an extender/AP.

I will also recommend Singtel ONT users to use their own router.
Indeed. I want to set my own DNS servers, and that can't be done on ST-issued routers.

Small quirk would be the occasional need to change my router MAC address upon router restart, as it got tied up on the ONT side sometimes and refuse to patch Internet through.
Don't have that quirk with issued routers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the curious, I managed to recontract on the 1Gbps Enhanced plan yesterday through Whatsapp chat, monthly $37.40 (24-mths). Currently on the old entry 1Gbps plan, paying $44.31 monthly.

First, was patched through to the Sales team, who refused to let up on offering whatever I can already see on the Plans page myself, all the same pricing (more expensive than current even after contract ends; 1G Enhanced at $53+). I just went hard at her basically, then she passed me to Home team.

Right away, offered $39.40 at first, then after a bit of prying, offered $37.40 for the same plan.

Sure, it's a good deal now and saved me the inconvenience of terminating this and that, separating fixed line and signing up with another provider. But the thought of potentially going through this again in 2 years' time... And who knows what kind of pricing we will get by then.

How come this kind of deal so under-table one? Might as well just be upfront, come up with a legit recontract page like years ago where all the good deals are at. Don't have to go through all these parrying just to get it. While the service is rock solid, the way to get it (at a good price) really grinds on my nerves. It's like they don't want to keep me around as a customer, and I have been with them since 2003 (DSL days).

They send mailer ma... The $37++ only comes when your contract expires on the month itself.

Before that is mailers for 2gbps at $58++ with a pair of mesh routers

It seems to be a case by case things.

1) It is true that you get crap offers like the 2Gbps they are promoting. Please just ignore this 2Gbps offer from Singtel.

2) Sometimes you get decent offer by SMS or by email or by post, before the contract expires. Some of the lucky ones get very good offers this way.

3) Sometimes you will only get offer after contract expires.

4) And then sometimes you will have to really bargain with Singtel to get good offer.

Thanks for the sharing.

Yes it will be good to have some kind of recontract offer page, however it seems to me Singtel is usualy not doing that for Fibre Broadband, as they give different offers to different people, through email/SMS/post.

And for Singtel TV packages, usually you need to go to Singtel shop to get good offers.

Better one is Singtel SIM Only where they have recontract offer pages.

I got the full suite with them.. mobile, tv, broadband.... best is tv and broadband are at my parent's place haha

I wonder what kind of bright minds they have in their marketing dept thought that would be a great idea. Have customers jump ship first because they don't see the offers upfront.

I only got that mailer for 2Gbps plan too (a few months ago). That's why I ignored it.

i recontracted back in June 2023 over whatsapp. was told to collect the new mesh router within 30 days but totally forgot about it. :ROFLMAO:
Not that you'd want to use them anyway, if you have the choice...
There are plenty of better devices out there.

they do have such a page, where everything is laid out, but strangely, it's found under domains such as whizzcomms, m1, starhub, myrepublic etc.

took me a while to figure it out, but once i did, no looking back.

I used to be a Singtel Circle member (Fibre, TV, and one or two Combo 2 mobile postpaid plan) for quite some years as the subsidy to the phones were good at those days. Later I moved the two Combo 2 plan to Singtel SIM Only plan as they changed the phone subsidy policy,

So far I really never contacted Singtel by phone for anything in the past few years -- I always use WhatsApp channel for Fibre recontract (every two years) and Singtel SIM Only recontract (every year). Then I will visit nearby Singtel Shop to carry out recontract for Singtel TV (Family Favourite starter pack) every year. I am paying Singtel S$92.71 now and I consider that to be acceptable (used to be paying much higher with the two Combo 2 plans).

I've got to know that there will be offers over the years -- so there are really not much uncertainties to me. The only uncertainty is the slightly different SMS or Email offer I got for Singtel Fibre broadband. My expectation is not high, just around S$40 for the 1Gbps plan will do for now (recontract offer in Sept 2022 was S$39.90 with a pair of Askey AP5100W Wifi 5 mesh nodes, and now S$40.27 due to GST increase). I know people are getting slightly better offers but I am lazy to negotiate with Singtel for better price.

Indeed that is a good choice as well. And I can see power users moving away from Singtel to M1 or Starhub.

For me I am lazy to move away from Singtel and so far I feel Singtel is good for me as an ONT user. It is rock solid and the recontract offer is acceptable.

On the other hand, I do not have issues to move away from Singtel either if things changed, probably to Starhub since I am also a long term Starhub Fibre internet user.

I recommend new sign-up users to avoid Singtel due to the use of ONR and I recommned M1/Starhub for new users anyway.

Give u good news... Based on the latest singtel circles requirements.. Seems like no need to have those xo plans etc anymore to be eligible... As long as got sim only plus (the ones with 5g), fibre and TV, will be counted in circles liao... Which is good for the 10% discount on each service

So I asked singtel if they could provide me the mesh router AP5690W instead and they insisted it's impossible for my $37 1gbps enhanced plan.
Then they told me that it's possible I just take the router RT5703W and can pair it with AP5690W with wired connection between the 2.

Not sure if they actually mean it will work as a mesh solution or something else.

I am using a ONR at home and Singtel insist that I will be issued with RT5703W which I need to self collect at Serv+ Orchard central.

I think that they mean that AP5690W will work as an AP after the Askey RT5703W.

But strange, they should be able to give you either RT5703W or AP5690W.

oh well, dunno why they die die can only give me RT5703W.

Do you think i should use the RT5703W in my living room then set my study room RT-AX55 to AP?
Or i just disregard the free RT5703W and stick to Asus AIMesh and have both living room and study room use the same model Asus Rt-AX55?

I will suggest you just disregard the free RT5703W. You can keep it in case you need to ask Singtel to troubleshoot your home network, as it is supported by Singtel.

But AX5400 better and faster than AX1800. No?
