I got the below info from a colleague, but i can't verify the link.

To turn your Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Router RT5703W into a mesh router, you would typically need additional compatible hardware. Mesh networks require multiple routers or access points to work together to provide seamless Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home or office.

Here are the general steps to set up a mesh network using your Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Router RT5703W as one of the nodes:

1. Purchase Compatible Mesh Hardware: You’ll need to purchase additional mesh nodes or routers that are compatible with your Singtel router. These nodes should support mesh networking protocols such as Wi-Fi EasyMesh or a proprietary mesh system specific to your router brand.
2. Connect the Mesh Nodes:
• Follow the setup instructions provided with your additional mesh hardware.
• Typically, you would connect one of the mesh nodes to your Singtel router using an Ethernet cable.
3. Configure the Mesh Network:
• Access the web interface of your Singtel Wi-Fi 6 Router RT5703W. You can usually do this by entering the router’s IP address in a web browser (e.g., 192.168.1.1) and logging in with the router’s admin credentials.
4. Enable Mesh Features:
• Look for settings related to mesh networking or extending the network in the router’s web interface.
• Enable the mesh features and follow the on-screen instructions to add the new mesh nodes to your network.
5. Follow Manufacturer Instructions:
• Refer to the documentation provided with your Singtel router and the additional mesh hardware for specific setup steps and compatibility information.
6. Test and Optimize:
• After setting up the mesh network, test the Wi-Fi coverage in various areas of your home or office to ensure it’s improved.
• You may need to fine-tune settings or relocate mesh nodes for optimal coverage.

Please note that the specific steps and features can vary depending on the router’s firmware and the brand of the mesh hardware you’re using. Ensure that your Singtel router and the additional mesh nodes are compatible and that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions for setup.

If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, it’s a good idea to reach out to Singtel’s customer support or consult the user manual for your specific router model.

Seems like confirmed need to get a separate mesh set to run on AP...

Oh well I'll just have my parents live on 1 router

Thanks for the updates. This is in line with my expectations.

The reply is useless, as Singtel does not supply additional compatible hardware.

I was thinking if the Singtel Askey Mesh routers AP5690W could be the compatible hardware to mesh with the Singtel Askey router RT5703W.

Singtel issued router or mesh solution (recent ones. since 2020)
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/broadband/routers-ont
Edit to add a note:
Take note I do not recommend using Singtel issued Mesh Solution above. You will be better off using mesh solutions from Netgear Orbi (especially if you need Singtel TV box support with wireless), Asus AImesh or TP-Link Deco or TP-Link EasyMesh.

Singtel usually gives ONT user Askey RT5703W as it is a router. They will give ONR users the Askey AP5690W which can not function as a router (but Singtel ONR is the router, without wireless function.

It is strange to hear that you have bad experiences with M1. If you want to switch to other ISPs, I would not recommend you to sign up with Singtel because of the use of Singtel ONR whcih will be the main router for you. Your good Asus ZenWifi XT8 will lose some of its functions when connected after the Singtel ONR.

M1/Starhub are the two ISPs I recommend for new sign-up. You can read the first post of the following thread.

I am using a ONR at home and Singtel insist that I will be issued with RT5703W which I need to self collect at Serv+ Orchard central.

M1 had really drastic drop in speed last year when working from home. Bad enough until my wife keep kpkb lol
I tested directly from ONT, my 1gbps plan was giving me 200mpbs+ but once after 6pm it can go back to 800-900mbps. I guess it's alot worst with VPN as well.

On new singtel sign up, cannot request for ONT instead?

Just recontracted with Enhanced and was told that it comes with AP5690W (wifi extender; AP), and cannot change to the RT5703W (router) even though I'm still on ONT... Comes as part of the plan, they said.

Not that I'll be using them because I have my own router, but seriously wtf...

If I really want to use, will have to go like this:
ONT -> My Router -> AP5690W

Thanks for the info.

It seems a bit random that Singtel is giving different router for recontract.

But Askey RT5703W is compatible with both ONT (as a router) and ONR (as an AP)

AP5690W can not be used with Singtel ONT as the main router. So it is more commonly given to Singtel ONR users. Maybe they have a record that you have been issued with a Singtel Mesh Router (or other newer router) in the past.

I was given a pair of Askey AP5100W (WiFi 5 mesh) for the recontract done in Sept 2022 (S$39.90 per month at that time, now it is a bit higher due to GST increase) . Singtel was probably cleaning up the stock at that time. The reason was that I was given Singtel Mesh Router back in Sept 2020 recontract.

I will also recommend Singtel ONT users to use their own router.

So in the end, it does not matter which Singtel issued router or mesh node they give to you. I will suggest to use your own router and own mesh solution.

I will be getting RT5703W, shall we swap routers? haha
Do consider.
