The living room area there console has a data point. I am thinking of using it for router point and TV data usage.

Yes, that is probably the place to go if you really want to go with single router setup.

However, then the Study room may have poor wifi. Master bedroom may have poor WiFI as well.

In the end, you can always go with single router first, then adding more APs if single router wireless coverage is not good. Just make sure you buy compatible ones to form mesh later.

Thats why i am asking for opinion on which to go for,

Singtel Broadband -
Singtel AX5400
Linksys AX5400

or Starhub Broadband

i just need interest access for mobile phonex3 , laptopx3, tvx2
Not all devices are use at the same time.

As already mentioned, I do not recommend going with Singtel due to the use of ONR. If you really want to go with Singtel, none of the two routers mentioned are good in terms as a mesh solution. You have to go with other mesh solutions as I believe single router will not work for you. Linksys E9450 is fine as single router but mesh performance is not good.

Reference:
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...sy-mesh-router-e9450-e8450-and-e7350.6407984/

If you go with Starhub, they give the Linksys Atlas MX2001 router, which is also not that great. But you can go with it if you really want, at least the mesh should work.
https://www.starhub.com/personal/broadband/routers.html

So between Singtel and Starhub, Starhub is a better choice if you prefer to get router or mesh solution from the ISPs. Typically Singtel and Starhub do not really provide good mesh solutions and M1 will be a better choice in this aspect. But anyway, I usually recommend people to get their own router or mesh solution and DO NOT use ISP issued router as a criteria when choosing an ISP.

Reference: please read the first post of the following thread.
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/singapore-isp-comparisons.6665380/

5) DO NOT USE the FREE BUNDLED ROUTER as the base for choosing ISPs. In general, it is better to buy your own router as the free router is not really good. Or in some case, buy the higher end router from the ISP if it is a good deal (eg: M1 GT-AX6000 is a superb deal). But anyway, this is just my personal opinion and many are still using the free router as the base for choosing ISPs because they may rely on ISP to provide the technical support (even though the technical support is in general not good).

I am currently using ONT with AC Plus. With that, my net speed is great as I mainly use ethernet. Though wifi signals seem to be decreasing and sometimes phone disconnect from wifi until the phone is in use again. I was wondering if it was a sign that the router is dying..or maybe the phone is just old.

With a recon, I will be getting a WiFi 6 router which looking at the site seems to be an AX5400.

Is it like way better than the AC Plus and I should go collect it and replace my current asap? Thanks

Singtel AC Plus is the worst wireless router issued by any ISPs since 2014, any new router is better than it. So just go an collect.

If you want to continue with Singtel, you may want to negitiate with Singtel to get about S$40.64 per month after GST. YMMV depending on your negotiation power (Call 1688 and ask to be transferred to the retention department).

M1 and Starhub are both cheaper. Both uses ONT and not ONR like Singtel/Whizcomms. Both have public IPv4 address and support IPv6 as well (not using CGNAT like MR/VQ and SIMBA).

M1 provides free digital voice whereas Starhub does charge a little bit for digital voice in case you need that one.

M1: S$36.84 per month, free router is a bit better than Starhub's if you care about that. I think TP-Link Archer AX72 is better than Asus RT-AX3000P. But if you have already an Asus AIMesh capable router, then it is better to get RT-AX3000P and use it as a mesh node.

Starhub: S$38.24 per month effective pricing

1. GPON--互操作兼容设置--基本认证设置
GPON SN: 12 letters S/N on back of your Singtel ONR
LOID: Fiber Broadband ID on your Singtel contract/bill
LOID CheckCode & Ploam Password: leave blank

2. GPON--互操作兼容设置--VLAN相关设置
互操作兼容模式:tick
默认PVID(for internet):10
下行组播VLAN(for IPTV):1281
下行组播VLAN转换(for IPTV):20
VLAN转换/绑定:leave blank

click 保存&应用

3. 系统--重启 (reboot) and you should now see 注册状态 5 under GPON状态
Not sure what I did wrong, I followed this and also copied the ONR mac address but the GPON status does not stay at 5. Keep going back to 2 after a few seconds.

This is the right offer, same as new user offer now.

Enhanced: with the Singtel AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router, S$42.90 per month for new users

Plus: more expensive, with Linksys E9450 router, S$45.07 per month for new users.

There was another offer for recontract users at about S$40.64 with free SingTel Mesh Router (WiFi 5, AC1900). Not so sure if anyone is getting this offer recently.

There were some users who get slightly better offer but it all depends on the negotiation power.

Usually I will just go with the prevailing offer. In this case, the offer to you can be considered as the prevailing offer.

Has been a known issue for a while, I believe vice versa has the issue too (M1 routing to Singtel) unless it has been resolved.

Looks like it is even worst with SIMBA.
210.10.78.1 is said to be SIMBA gateway for SIMBA Fibre Internet users.

Bash:
root@OpenWrt:~# ping -c 4 simba.sg
PING simba.sg (210.10.12.91): 56 data bytes

--- simba.sg ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss

root@OpenWrt:~# ping -c 4 210.10.78.1
PING 210.10.78.1 (210.10.78.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 210.10.78.1: seq=0 ttl=244 time=221.467 ms

Singtel has bad routing to M1. It goes to HK and come back to Singapore.

Those are not actually M1 and Starhub's network respectively; M1's site is served via Radware's CDN and Starhub's via Incapsula's CDN.

If i'm not wrong, Singtel peers with Starhub so latency sholdn't be an issue. M1 purchases IP transit from Singtel as well, so latency shouldn't be an issue.

M1 routing to Singtel
Ping to Singtel's speedtest server on my M1 connection is ~3ms. Ping RTT to my router from Singtel's 5G network is around 20ms, bulk of which is wireless latency. There really shouldn't be any latency issue between the 3 major ISPs in Singapore.

Latency to M1 SpeedTest server is also very bad.
if you don't mind, can do a traceroute to M1's speedtest server?

m1speedtest1.m1net.com.sg

Singtel is actually one of the upstreams for the speedtest server's IP range, funny the latency can be 200+ms :s13:

Edit: Oddly I'm getting 20ms ping when running speedtest on M1's server over Singtel 5G.
