Does Singtel provide any alternatives to the 5012NV? The technicians brought a smaller black modem/router the other day when installing MIO at my new house but could not connect it or something. Now I'm asking Singtel for alternative modem/router but they say they only have 5012NV.

I'm getting 3 bars in a room 3-4 meters away from the modem.

did ST put both 3329 and your extender on the same channel?
Can you post a screenshot from inSSider?

Nope, I removed the extender before support. My signal from 3/4 is now constant 5, but the only thing I caught was channel change and re adding our phone line.

Oh OK. I really suspect your extender could be the one that is slowing it down. anyway glad that you got better wifi now. enjoy.

Thank you.

It's not the extender, I only started using the extender last friday because the signal was horrible. The speed was always 18 - 20 mbps even without the extender, beside the modem. The speed on extender was slower, about 15 mbps. I also tried changing the channels before, but couldn't get any difference with or without extender.

The speed from master bedroom without extender was 1 mbps lol couldn't even load google. Now it can stream youtube HD without buffering, but Singtel still coming down to replace router I believe.

I have signed up for the Singtel exPlore Home 100 plan with free Pace A5220N router and mio free package. After reading about the performance of the Pace router, I am considering buying the Asus 56U.

As my PC is in the bedroom and tv in the living room, I am planning on the following:

ONT > Pace(living room and tv) > Asus (bedroom, wired, acting as wireless AP ).

Question:

1. If I connect Pace LAN port to Asus WAN port, will this be sufficient? Any more configuration needed on the Asus end?

2. How do I disable the Pace wireless to prevent it interfering?

Thanks for your help.

I also have same intentions. Planning to get a ASus router too. From the responses in HWZ, I will try to use pace for mioTV & voice & smart tv lan. Then connect to ASus router in study room to serve the rest of house. Looks like pace performance issue is the wifi and not the LAN so I hope is ok.

If still cui, then may try to connect directly to the ASus. But I think that may pose a problem cos my ONT is within a cabinet so maybe ASus performance within the cupboard also may nt be so good.

Qn: for standard 4rm hdb flat, I guess N56 should be able to cover whole house ? No need the ac66 or n66 right?

I have no issue with PACE wireless. I can get at least 4 bars signal throughout my apartment of ~1900 sq.ft. In the bedroom I can get best wireless speed of 88 Mbps download.

Poor wireless performance can be caused by other reasons than the RG itself.

Sometime I have problem getting ip addresses from the DHCP. I was forced to use statics IP instead and now is stable.

There's negative user experience on this router, but also got people who loves it.

So, those who loved this router, would you be able to share on how do you actually stablize this modem/router's Wireless?

The router by default is already having power strength of 6 (MAX).
WPA2 encryption (for Wireless-N), set to N only.

But forever having connection issues with IP cameras, wireless mobile devices. The same camera if connected to an extender or another router.
I do not see it disconnect from the wireless for months.

Enable MAC Filtering (blacklist)

Hi all,
I would like to ask if anyone has any idea how to go about using the MAC Filtering option.

I want to block out certain MAC addresses within my network.
I have added them into the list as shown below.

30495829.png

How do I select both MAC addresses, since it is using a radio button for the selection?

Also, is the MAC address case-sensitive? As in, is ab-xx-xxx-xxxx the same as AB-xx-xxx-xxxx?

Thanks for the help =)

Hi,

I need a bit of advice and was wondering if any kind soul could help me.

I just upgraded to the 100mbps mio fibre plan and they just installed the pace modem. Problem is, the wireless strength is so lousy! Can't even received from the master bedroom in a 4 room flat when the modem is placed in the living room. No problems previously with the 5012NV last time.

So I have a few questions.

1. I called Malifax, they said the 5012NV can be used as an extender if I use a Lan cable to connect to the pace. Thus I used a Homeplug because I have like 4. But I cant seem to get it to work. They said to plug it into the yellow ethernet port but that doesn't seem right to me. any suggestions?

2. All of my family's desktops are plugged using homeplugs and the speed averages 50-60mbps. Is that normal or can it be higher?

3. Should I swap out the pace for the 5012NV? If not I was thinking of getting a Homeplug wireless extender. But not sure if it's worth the investment.

Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi, I'm not an expert but I believe the speed you are getting with home plugs is reasonable. You can't expect to get 100mbps as there's a drop due to your power cables. Expect 100mbps only with Lan cable.

I believe if you switch back to the 5012, the result will be the same.

In my case, I went for a new Asus N66U and that improved all my wireless clients above 60mbps.
