Most likely this will work very badly for the second node. Rule of thumb is that the two nodes can only one wall in between.

Highly not recommended.
ah ok. Thanks for the insight. So probably I have to look for a tri-band solution or maybe add in an additional x20 mesh unit in bedroom 1?

Deco X20 is highly not recommended in this case, even with three nodes. That is my personal opinion.

But please post the floor plan first if you need further helps.

Hi xiaofan, i have sucessfully bridge 10g port.
my configuration is port 5 (10G) as internet, port 1 for singtel tv, phone line (no problem).
my deco px50 have switch from AP to router mode.

curerntly i am looking to add deco BE85 as router --->amada DS105X-----> existing 3 deco px50 as AP.

hi, i'm signing up for new contract and deciding between 2gbps and 5gbps
4rm flat, usage is quite typical (netflix/wfh/light gaming)
understand that the recommendation is to buy own mesh routers separately (looking at 2pcs deco x20)

2gbps enhanced plan $40.90/mth (need to pay activation fee $61.04)
5gbps (wifi 6)+entertainment bundle $46.76/mth (understand from salesman no need to pay activation for 5gbps plans)

additional consideration - need to have 2.4ghz network for digital lock connection

my qn: worth it to go for 5gbps? am thinking to stick with 2gbps as our needs are quite simple. i also don't really value the entertainment bundle

Indeed 2Gbps plan is better for you in this case.

Do you have LAN ports in the rooms? If yes, Deco X20 can be used as a cheap low end mesh solution with Ethernet Backhaul.

Example connection scheme in this case --> usually this will work for a typical 3-bedroom flat (4/5 room HDB flat and 3-bedroom Condo).
Singtel ONR in the DB box, one Deco X20 in the living room and another Deco X20 in one of the bedrooms (eg: main bedroom).

If not, you may have to raise your budget significantly as you may need to go with triband mesh solution which is quite a bit more expensive.

I just got my signet 5gb setup.
I did a WiFi scan and I want to change the channel to a cleaner channel.
How to log in to the router ? I tried the login and password on the sticker under the router but cannot log in.

I also see a lot of people selling Singtel router and mesh stuff on carousel . Is it that bad ? Can I just buy a unit and on to the router to create a mesh?

The issued AX wireless router will work in AP mode, to know its IP address, one way is to log in to the ONR (192.168.1.254) and then find the IP address of the AX5400 router (192.168.1.x), then you can log in to the AX5400 router.

Singtel issued Arcadyan/Airties/Askey router and mesh solution are junk/trash grade wireless router and mesh solution. But if you have LAN ports in the rooms, it may work for you.

Did you get the WG660242-ST? If that is the case, you can get the WiFi 6 Mesh Extender if the price is low (say S$50 for new unit). Quick Google search show some people even selling two units at S$70 for used units.

If you get the RT5703W, then you may want to get AP5690W if the price is low (say S$50 for new unit).

TP-Link Archer AX72 at around S$80 to S$100 (new unit) or S$50 (used) will be better than any of the following.

What about one of those WiFi extender things ?

Junk/trash grade mesh solution, now better not to use as security updates are nearly over.

Hi,

May i confirm if my intended plan would work:

SingTel 5Gbps plan with TP-Link HB810 WiFi-7 router. Temporary setup, as ASUS GT-BE98 is still expensive now.

Singtel ZTE F8648P ONR 10Gbps LAN 5 bridged -> TP-Link HB810 10Gbps WAN port in router mode, i.e. router will have IPv4 Public IP address.

TP-Link HB810 10Gbps LAN port -> PC with Intel X540-AT2 NIC (NAT with port forwarding done on TP-Link HB810 for ports i require to be accessible from the internet).

TP-Link HB810 2.5 Gbps LAN port -> ASUS GT-AX6000 2.5 Gbps WAN port in AP mode.

Objective is not to have double NAT.

Thank you.

Not confirmed to work as it is still YMMV for ZTE F8648P ONR bridging. Some people can get it work and some still cannnot. I could not ger briding to work for quite some time but then suddenly it worked.

Thank you for your prompt response.

I am aware that the bridging, even for the ZTE F8648P ONR LAN5, may or may not work. Assuming it does, does my plan sound okay? Thanks.

My objectives:
No double NAT
I do not need internet on the other unbridged ports on the ONR.

Yes, your plan will work if bridging works.

Hi Xiao Fan,

attached is the floor plan. Location 1 is where the Fibre TP is. Location 2 is where the PC is located. So my intention is to reconstruct 2 Gbps plan and buy my own wireless mesh solution. Would appreciate your expert inputs. Thanks!

I see. I will still not recommend Deco X20 in this case since you do not have LAN ports in the rooms.

But if you really have budget constraints, just go ahead and it may work for you with three pack solution (Challenger listed price is at S$269 for Deco X20 3-pack), say one in the living room ONT area, one in Bedroom 3 and one in Bedroom 2, speed will not be good for your PC but it may work. Main bedroom will be even worse. You can also carry out the experimentation to see which arrangement gets you the best results.

I believe Deco PX50 three-pack may be a good solution if your budget allows, speed will not be great but should be much more stable than Deco X20. It is using G.hn G1500 Powerline Network for backhaul, say one unit in the living room ONT area, one in Bedroom 2 for your PC, and one in the main bedroom. You can consider Powerline backhaul as a "pesudo Ethernet backhaul with lower speed" and it will much more stable than wireless backhaul. Challenger listed price for three-pack is at S$499.

Thanks for the inputs. Will definitely consider your proposed solution.
