Interesting. SingTel just done my bridging port. The ONR became ONT. the rest of the ports cannot be use. I need to use my AX-86U as the main router now.

Happy to report that 10G upgrade done, ONR successfully bridged, IPTV and DV both working :)

Only slight hiccup was that the ST FE wasn't very clear about the steps to config the bridging, so I had to guide him a bit using the steps from here. He said ST only recently started approving ONR bridging.
Did you guys pay extra (monthly VAS) for the bridging of the ONR?

Yours ONR bridging is done officially by SingTel -- so they will not let you have two networks and two public IPv4 addresses. Only single network and single public IPv4 address.

For the manual ONR bridging (unofficial bridging)
ZTE F8648P -- unbridged ports no longer work for Internet access.
Nokia XS-240X-A -- unbridged ports work for Internet access.
Thanks. I will leave it then. Connected to the WAN 2.5gb port. Did the speed test. max download is 1.3gbps. Not working well as expected. any advise ?

From the ax86u QOS, internet speed test.

That is usually not accurate due to the weakness in the RT-AX86U router (CPU and maybe other factors).

Unfortunately there is no way to test accurately the WAN speed of RT-AX86U router in this case, since it has only single 2.5Gbps capable port which is used as WAN port, the other ports are only capable of 1Gbps.

Wired test with single client: up to 1Gbps only.
Wireless tests: up to 1.6Gbps with good WiFi 6 client.

What you can try: carry out speed tests with two wired clients at the same time, each should be > 900Mbps.

Just change my RT-AX86U from AP mode to router mode and use 2.5G port as WAN.

Here are the results I can get -- you can see the download results are not that consistent. Upload speed is good.

Hi guys, First thing, Upgraded to Singtel 5GBPS plan I have all my hardware capable of pulling 5gbps, I did a speedtest(.net) on my PC and it's only showing 2.4gbps down and 4.7gbps up. The download is not normal too low.

What could be causing the bottleneck speed in my download? If my up can pull 4.7 it makes no sense for my down to not pull similar speeds too. Any advices? Using Realtek 8126 5gbps network card in PCIe x1 Gen3.0 slot

Very common issue with this chipset. Check your driver version and Windows PC specifications.

Reference: please go to this thread to check.

Were you able to get the around 4.6-4.7 for both up and down with Realtek 8126 on a Windows machine?

Currently I downloaded the latest driver provided by Realtek website but the speeds are the same, Running on Windows 10.

Driver Ver: 10.74.1128.2024
Driver Date: 28/11/2024

No, but better than your results. You can check out my result at the thread. Other users have also reported the issue.

If you have 3rd party Antivirus program, disable it temporarily.

+++++++++++
1. RealTek RTL8126x 5Gbps Ethernet PCIe and M.2 adapters are available, from vendors like IOCrest and GRiS.
https://www.cnx-software.com/2024/06/18/realtek-rtl8126-5gbps-ethernet-pcie-and-m-2-adapters/

Example product from IOCrest. I have the PCI-E version and it works fine. The good thing is that it is of low power and only need PCI-E x1 slot.
http://www.iocrest.com/index.php?id=2413
http://www.iocrest.com/index.php?id=2410

Note: you may have lower speed under Windows as the RealTek driver may not work well under Windows. The result may be slightly better under Linux but the speed may still be on the lower side.

My test results:

I checked my test results and I cannot get close to 5Gbps download speed either with my Ryzen 5 5600G Desktop running Windows 11 Home, or dual boot Ubuntu 24.04 Linux. Still if your PC has only empty PCIex1 slot, then this may still be a good and low cost option upgrade.

For my 5gbps recontract with Singtel at the $29.90 offer, I also asked for Free Bridge Mode without VAS $10. Their management reluctantly agreed to waive off VAS charges for 24 months instead of the typical full waiver forever.

One can tell they are not willing to give it out as easily anymore approval will only get much stricter. They also asked me why do I need it, use cases before approving my request. Below is the interesting part. Installation day...

Come installation day, The Singtel guy came (Given Nokia 240 ONR), he set up everything within 10-15mins told me "Bridge Mode" was done. After he left and I checked the ONR webUI under LAN page all ports were set to Bridge Mode. That's about it. Not a single Bridge Mode for WAN page which is the true setting to tweak based on what the other thread recommended. I have also not seen any "Bridge Mode" VAS Charges in my add-ons page so I'm not sure how that works they gonna just remotely disable or mess with my ONR settings after 24months? Who knows.

If someone pays $10/month VAS for this service, Good luck seems like even Singtel guy also don't know how to set up for you, but if you know a thing or two about Bridge Mode you shouldn't need to request for it just look up threads and do it yourself. I requested because I wanted some assurance in case my ONR gets bricked or something, Also because to try my luck. Looking from the other end, Had I not requested for it they may have given me another ONR which Nokia 240 is better suited for Bridge Mode and all LAN still works with Internet) So I still take that as a Win. The Singtel guy knows about the support and reverse of pw, He did tell me that so maybe you pay $10/month to access the login info haha

Able to share screenshot of your lan and wan page ? Might not be relevant but I assume dhcp has been turned off since it would be your router giving out the ip address ?

Hi all i am new to IT sector, but what i know Bridge Mode is just pass through all the network without going NAS setting. Because I used Asus router before. I know any ISP will limited the user unless u ask before recontract. I have a 2 questions does the 2 Gbps still used ONT or ONR? Second i still using ONT if my ONT have issue will the ISP exchange to ONT or ONR?

1) Singtel 2Gbps uses GPON ONR. Singtel 3Gbps/5Gbps/10Gbps plan use XGS-PON ONR. Singtel does offer S$10 per month VAS for XGS-PON ONR bridging ONR as of now (March 2025).

All WC plans will use ONR as well.

2) By right Singtel will issue you an ONT if you are currently using ONT. But please confirm with Singtel. Take note Singtel no longer offers recontract for ONT based legacy plans. So if you do not like ONR, prepare to leave Singtel for other ISPs.

WC users with bridged GPON ONR will still have the GPON ONR bridged if upgrading from legacy plan to 2.5Gbps plan as per the report. WC 10Gbps plan uses XGS-PON ONR.
