In the eyes of IMDA the difference between prepaid and postpaid is the rules surrounding registration.

There is a limit of up to 10 postpaid SIMs per ID.

Only NRIC and FIN holders can buy postpaid SIMs. Foreign passport holders without FIN can't buy postpaid SIMs.

Foreign passport holders without FIN can buy prepaid cards, however the card will only be valid for 30 days.

This 30 day limit does not apply to NRIC/FIN holders.

There is a limit of up to 3 prepaid SIMs per ID.
A loophole unpatched by IMDA for over a decade is regarding the expiry of FINs.

Foreigners can continue using their postpaid or prepaid lines long after their FINs expire, and some sell off their SIMs on the black market before leaving the country.

IMDA should know this loophole long ago. Is this still the case now?

Yes it is still unpatched. Looks like IMDA is not so keen to address these issues until being put in the public spotlight, like they were with the 10 postpaid SIM limit.

Do not mix the payment terms with PrePaid/Postpaid IMDA classifications.

All the MVNOs' SIM Only plans are Prepaid as per payment terms. They are Postpaid as per IMDA classifications. Same for SingTel hi! PostPaid plans.
Sorry I wasn't being too clear; what I was asking is more about the mechanics of the rollovers as Hi postpaid don't have to top up monthly as payment is automatic. Does it mean for Hi postpaid users there's no need to do anything like buying addition data/top up data to enjoy the rollover?

I think it's current month's data + previous 5 months' of unused data, subject to a max quota of 6 months total data. Example entitlement is 500GB/mth so the max available data is 3TB at any single point of time...

On 7th month, your 1st month entitlement will expire, you will still be able to use 2nd - 6th month entitlement, in addition to 7th month entitlement.

What's the cheapest to maintain a number in sg? No need roamings or a lot of datas. Little calls and little smses.

Assuming that you are not qualified for senior plan for this reply.

1) M1 Maxx Base plan may be the cheapest at one time cost of S$10 or S$12 (need to sign up using physical store), but there are doubts whether it will work in the future or not now that they change the terms and conditions.

Old terms and conditions (looks like stii effective)

New terms and conditions.

2) StarHub Prepaid S plan at S$10 per month has grace period of 120 days. 80 GB data per month.

3) eight and SingTel hi! Postpaid plans have the grace period of 60 days after plan expiration.

IMHO.
Can take a look at M1 Prepaid card. Extend validity is $5 for 90 days. $10 for 180 days.
It works out to be about $1.67 per month.

The calls and SMSes will be charge full rate, so overall could still be cheaper.

Ported from GOMO 5G+ Core $20.99 to SingTel Hi! 5G+ $13. The porting is so fast within 30min as it’s SingTel to SingTel.

5G SA + VoNR + RCS features are enabled.
