A loophole unpatched by IMDA for over a decade is regarding the expiry of FINs.In the eyes of IMDA the difference between prepaid and postpaid is the rules surrounding registration.
There is a limit of up to 10 postpaid SIMs per ID.
Only NRIC and FIN holders can buy postpaid SIMs. Foreign passport holders without FIN can't buy postpaid SIMs.
Foreign passport holders without FIN can buy prepaid cards, however the card will only be valid for 30 days.
This 30 day limit does not apply to NRIC/FIN holders.
There is a limit of up to 3 prepaid SIMs per ID.
Foreigners can continue using their postpaid or prepaid lines long after their FINs expire, and some sell off their SIMs on the black market before leaving the country.
