I wanted to opt for eSIM… but if change phone will be chargeable.. so I dropped the idea of doing that..

Initial plan to move from Gomo Plan to SingTel mobile phone plan due to eSim is not available for existing Gomo customer

Your point on physical SIM card triggers some thoughts and find this piece of info useful

SingTel mobile plan (S or M plan) does not come with free caller ID under CIS plan. Caller ID over 24 months is $130. This make overall costs for buying phone under SingTel higher costs compared to Gomo plan plus new iPhone.

Decided to stay in Gomo plan with physical SIM card and get new iPhone set later when supply over demand and can walk in to buy on the spot next month

speaking of eSim
this round no charges converting from physical SIM to eSim

do note, to those unaware … eSim CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED. once deleted from device, it cannot be reinstalled nor transferred to another handset.

with that in mind …
subsequent application, be it forced upon due to faulty handset, loss of handset, or change of handset, or yearly upgrades of iphone … may have charges applicable.

i was 99% certain i want to convert to eSim this round …
but then i’m thinking come next year when changing to ip17pm …
i’ll use my backup iphone (probably ip11) so i can trade in the ip16pm
But Then, with physical sim … i can continue using the ip11 as per normal …
but with eSim … i would not (not sure if Call Forwarding is an option ie forward my main number to ip11 one; i have mobileshare line)

reason for eSim … so i can put my Malaysia Prepaid SIM onto my phone, whilst ST on eSim
(atm MY prepaid no eSim)

I am still waiting for 16PM 1TB but seems like always no stock.
PM 1TB has been no stock since the pre order is up to the public. Thats why i choose to pre order even though my voucher have not been released to me. I paid the voucher upfront and Singtel will credit the amount to my bill. Finally yesterday i received from SMS from singtel that my loyalty voucher have been credited to my bill as rebate.

I only will use convert to e-Sim if i use a phone case that requires alot of effort to take out.
Else physical sim will be the way to go for me as i change phone yearly. Moving forward i think it will be all eSim already.

i don’t mind if eSim is the norm
but, i feel it shouldn’t be chargeable upon subsequent reactivation due to yearly handset upgrades etc
after all, we are recontracting and its not like we purposely want to force the change of esim tied to our line/s.
hopefully ST will note this point, and waive charges reg eSim forced upon customers, be it yearly upgrades, loss or theft of phones

i only think it justifies charges if say customer suddenly wants to switch from Psim to eSim midway thru his contract

Similar reason as you if I go for eSIM. Malaysia prepaid sim is very cheap.

Gomo plan gives me 5GB monthly to Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia , Australia and Taiwan. I can also deposit unused data in data bank and claim 1 to 2 unlimited access for 1 day in Malaysia and Thailand per month. With such overseas data roaming included in my gomo plan at $22+. Good enough as interim solution
