iPhone 5's side anoxidised coating on the aluminium band is way too fragile to little unremoved marks/scuffgates. Don't talk about black slate batches. Numerous of my friend's white iPhone 5, just a little bump with their rings/metal strap watches, is enough to give a slight "discoloring" to the alu band.

Either you live with it, or like what TS did, exchage for a refurb set, or apply those Lucky Labs Spectra Wraps, or buy a casing/bumper, or totally skip iPhone 5 and wait for 5S/6 to see if Apple does listen to the scuffgate issues/feedbacks.

We always strive to improve. Its sad that Apple, in exchange for a lighter material than 4/4S's steel band, chooses such a way to manufacture their iPhone 5 alu band.

So it doesn't matter whether its black or white and the scuff gate issue will affect unless we wrap it around with cotton wool ... sigh ... there are some friends of mine whom still prefer their 4s or switch to s3/note2 partly due to the scuff gate issue...

Wow. I sure hope the next gen iPhone won't have this. I'd take the full glass backing any day even if it means it looks like the iPhone 4/4S.

Glass backing has its pros and cons .. Won't scratch as easily but will crack or shatter once dropped ... Nexus 4 has copied iPhone 4/4s in the front/back glass design

That being said, I will rather use the first set that had the blue dot then to go through the hassle of changing it at comcentre

My current iPhone 5 has the blue dot and 2 scuffgates out of the box =/

True that. If your refurb IPhone 5 is working perfectly fine and looks as good as new on the outside, what more do you want?

i am fine with the phone , in fact for previous iphone 4 and 4s i had them both replace due to home button fault i am had no issue with the refurb set , but i still cant believe that singtel sold me a replacement set since day 1,

its not like i use 2 week/ months and i exchange a set due to a fault, but like any other electronic, theirs 7 days 1-1 exchange, and since i am exchanging the set the same day as i sign up my line shouldnt my exchange be 1-1 brand new?

Singtel 1-1 Exchange iPhone 5

Hey bros I am a new member in this forum so I would like to enquire about the Singtel 1-1 exchange process.
So the problem is : my dad bought a new iPhone 5 for me on the 23rd of December . I didn't use a SP nor a Case as I currently had no money so I had to do with a naked one. and than on the 26 of December , I was inspecting my phone , and to my horror I saw I small but visible CHIP on the bevel at the lower left corner ! I was horrified as this phone was new and I treated it dearly, even setting it on the table , I first placed a micro fibre cloth on the table before setting it down. So I didn't know how the dent got there :[ is it possible I bring it down to the Singtel Comcentre and 1-1 replace it ? The phone line is under my Aunty can I bring it down and replace or do I need my aunt? and I don't want to tell my aunt as she will tell my parents and they will scold me , saying I am not responsible etc and shouldn't own a iPhone :[ I don't to disappoint them, so any bros who got experience , what should I do ? TIA :]

cant blame singtel, starhub and M1 also practice this.. is APPLE who set the rules.. wan blame, blame apple.. too many ppl exchange just because of small problems, so they have to do this..

She has to be there either physically or you will need her IC/photocopy of her IC and your receipt from purchase. Either way, she has to know.

hm okay i can get her to photocopy her IC for me and i will go over, but will they reject because of the dent?

Don't bother to go down because they will not do the exchange for you. The warranty does not cover cosmetic damage.

No worries bro. Just go down and tell them you have issues with WiFi and the battery. They will do the exchange for you if the chipped off area is not very big. My friend had dents and major chipped but still able to exchange.

I'm sorry to say bro, Singtel didn't sell you a refurbished iPhone 5. They sold you a brand new iPhone 5 and you checked on the spot before agreeing to take the phone. But you chose to take a slightly defective phone and chose to exchange it for another set at com centre.

To conclude, it's your fault for choosing a defective set and exchange it for a refurbished set. Singtel and apple has no fault in this fiasco since it is apple policy to not give a brand new iPhone for an exchanged set.

bro thanks for the answer , but do i need to show my aunt's ic ? if the line is under her name , i can provide her ic number and dob but i dont think can provide the ic D: so if i say i have issues with the wifi and that my battery drains faster than usual ( which is true) will they need to keep it for a few days to check or on the spot 1-1 exchange? TIA :3

I dont think they will require the line holder's ic, usually the ic of the person who brings the phone for exchange instead, if they suspect foulplay, they will request for your phone to be inspected by apple and you have to leave your phone behind otherwise it's a 1-1 on the spot.

Yup that y I should had walk off without signing the contract when the first 3 set they opened are all defective

What I blame is the staff that assured me its a new set, I m familiar with apple policy , but because its 1st day into my contract I assume I m entitled to 1-1 . Would have rather not change anything had that guy just admit to me it's a replacement set
