by the way, are you also interested in hair, makeup? :s13:

so hard to get a good conversation going on in here about anything other than rolex-yay, wax-yay

saw this from a while ago

people who want to prevent hairloss need to look for a shampoo with ingredients proven to block DHT

most shampoo on the market focus on hair loss based on "breakage"

if your scalp is rekt and there isn't any hair growing on the surface of your scalp, using anti-hair-loss products which deal with breakage = take off your pants and fart - useless

hmmmmmm Exfoliator after Moisturizer is like something wrong leh

Correct order is :

Step 1: Oil-based cleanser.
Step 2: Double-cleansing. ...
Step 3: Exfoliate. ...
Step 4: Toner. ...
Step 5: Essence. ...
Step 6: Ampoule. ...
Step 7: Serum. ...
Step 8: Sheet mask

Wouldn't recommend exfoliation in the daytime before you head out for sure as well.

I know is I put wrongly lol. I exfoliate at night only. Bte how do you use your serum? Put k fingertip or palm?

As somebody with oily skin, I will prefer to use a vitamin c serum in the morning to help with acne, pih and skin tone. These are very common problems for people with oily skin.

I will also prefer to use niacinamide at night, together with retinol. Niacinamide can soothe the skin and reduce the irritation that retinol brings.

I am also partial towards the emulsion formula. I haven't tried ordinary's different retinoids yet but I am more interested in their granactive retinoid in squalane. The squalane provides nice extra moisture while granactive is supposedly a more advance formula than retinol.

I will also suggest double cleansing with an oil cleanser (especially for oily skin) at night. Oils are better at drawing dirt and oil away. It is also extremely helpful to reduce the appearance of pores; massaging with oil aids in removing the loose dead skin on the surface.

I am however, not big on standalone moisturisers. I find their effects temporary and many times, brings more woe than aid. A moisturiser that does not absorb well can clog pores and act as a trap for environmental dust. Note that online recommendations typically target foreign countries with much lower humidity than Singapore. We will need to test out and vary those recommendations so that our routine are truly customised to our needs. Simply said, occlusives are less important to us than humectants.

Disclaimer: I am not against moisturising. I just find that my serums are moisturising enough that I don't need an extra moisturiser. I will much prefer to use a moisturising sunscreen rather than layer a standalone moisturiser and standalone sunscreen.

Sidenote: I have tried renzo's sunscreen recommendation. Anessa is slightly oily at application; but this oiliness goes away after a while and becomes a good moisturising agent throughout the day.

Do you exfoliate every night? I only do it like twice a month for fear of damaging my skin. I'm using the Cure Natural Aqua Gel. Like it cuz I can see the black "dead" skin when I rub my face.

I drop the serum directly on my face with the dropper (without the dropper touching my face), then spread it everywhere

Both fingertip and palm also can
what's important is that you must make sure there is no rubbing of the skin whereby you stretch the skin awkwardly. This is to avoid creating wrinkles. Rub and stretch any area of your skin enough, wrinkles will come.

I personally use fingers because I feel using the whole palm is a waste of serum.

But for my day routine, I use my whole palm cause I mix them in my palm and apply one shot. Night routine I apply serum by serum individually (resting for a minute or two between each serum).

Take note, even The Ordinary themselves said that their product (Niacinamide+Zinc) will not help with terribly oily skin. Think clinically oily until cannot oily.

However, if your skin is just the normal oily (like mine) this is enough.
What Wishdom said about occlusive is true, for Singapore's weather (hot+high humidity) you want to avoid occlusive at all cost.

Humectants will hydrate our skin well enough considering the high humidity.
However, if you work in an office with a centralized air conditioning system, moisturizers such as humectants will not work well while you're in office.

Centralized Air conditioning used to tall office building basically strips all the water from the air during the cooling process and then pump it into the building. So if you are dead serious about keeping your face moisturized, invest in a humidifier in your work cubicle. Humectants work well in humid air.

Singapore's weather and environment is very tough for skincare.
Air con room = dry
Outside = super warm and humid

Occlusive is only recommended for dry+cold weathers, so it is still a no no for Singapore.

final point: Zinc Oxide helps with oily skin, which gives you even more reason to use a zinc oxide sunscreen instead of a full chemical filter sunscreen

Yeah I agree with you, the serum itself got humentacts, I might consider trying, this one is your last step before sunscreen?

Nope. Vitamin C in the form of L-Ascorbic Acid contradicts Niacinamide

Morning Routine = mix the below 3 together in my palms:
  1. Pycnogenol 5%
  2. Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%
  3. Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution
then one shot applies to the whole face. followed by a sunscreen

I won't recommend Ethylated Ascorbic Acid 15% Solution, it has a very oily texture and I don't think it absorbs well

Btw any physical sunscreen to recommend ? Just titanium dioxide and zinc oxide only , don't want chemical filter / fragrance / alcohol / paraben

I think this is good
http://haba.com.sg/product/uv-cut-milk-50/

https://www.skincarisma.com/products/haba/uv-cut-milk-spf50-pa/ingredient_list#info-section

the ingredient list has none of the guilty suspects. It's quite pricey imo but it has an anti-inflammatory effect and that is good for the skin.

Do try and let us know. If good I will sticky it on the first page.

I would have recommended the Anessa Perfect UV Mild Milk but it has chemical filters (though at relatively little of it) which you do not want at all.

Combination

Forehead = oily
Nose = super oily
Cheeks = normal to dry

I don't really suffer from outbreaks. But when I use wrong products confirm will outbreak. (like a month ago when I applied a moisturizer with salicylic acid + glycolic acid right after my retinol)
