For less than $5? yeah, quality not bad. I really hate losing ear buds. Have not tried the mic quality yet..maybe will do that tomorrow.

p.s. am actually glad it works with my Dell XPS13 USB-C.

Stuck at 5mm.. sad. But the day China makes their first EUV / equivalent, ASML and the usual shenanigan Fabs will have very fierce competition.

MediaTek is a credible competitor, and seems like Chinese makers like Vivo and Xiaomi create separate image processing chips to augment the main SOC. If indeed Qualcomm kenna embargoed their phones can still have good processing power.

Don't think China is chasing cpu but gpu for datacenter and ai like Cambricon

The Kirin 9000 development barely moved, mostly for technical(duv embargo) reasons but there's not much point since cpu isn't what the market crave nor is it that profitable

True, but I believe might indirectly enable better CPU with the better chain as a whole with local expertise and know hows available as compraed to relying on external sources. Have to remember that China is aiming for self sufficiency, so having a complete system might indirectly enable expansion of other relavant fields.

Do they still launch 17 series with a local version? So they only launch "T" version afterwards?
If getting direct from china xiaomi store, the google still can manually install right? And use google pay as per normal?

I find xiaomi sibeh xiasuay, cant use their own skill sell their own phone.
Have to copy apple almost completely even right down to naming to purposely skip afew numbers.

Reminds me of that wing chun movie called ip man where they purposely align their release with iron man.

Pretty normal to copy nowadays since most things have plateaued, everyone's taking each others and incorporating into their own products.
