newbie looking to start photography.
after some research i'm looking to get the a6000 and a 35f18 prime lens. Any advise from pros here?
main usage would be travel photography, some figurines, and just a general usage camera that the family can bring on trips

i assume i'm on the right track judging from your response![]()
Will you be getting with the kit lens or body only?
For newbie, try to keep the kit lens with you rather than a prime.
Reason: you may not be used to a camera without zoom yet, thus using a prime lens may give you some headaches.
The 35mm prime is a good choice for street and portrait photography.
The 16mm is good for wide shots for family / group / landscape photos, while the "zoom" range of up to 50mm will make things easy for you during composition.![]()
sorry to interrupt any idea where to get A6000 in Singapore cheapest? seems like challenger and courts Harvey norman prices are similar.
Personally I used a 28mm fixed lens camera (GR), but I like the 35mm focal length better. Small diff as they are, the bokeh is better on 35mm.
On the prime lens fixed focal limitation, I view it s a positive point. Prime lens frees you from the never ending decision making of which focal length to use and besides, the kit lens is slower than the prime. So IMHO, its a great lens to start.
