The mantra is to always go wired if physically available, but seems like Sony dislike using GigaBit LAN ports on their TVs (only uses "Fast Ethernet"), if your home WLAN is able to delivery consistent bandwidth beyond 100Mbps, do go for wireless connection.

Can just stick with wired connection.. TV should not need more than 100Mbps even if u are streaming 4k videos..

Hi,
Personally like Sony TV(always has better use experience comparing to other brands that i ever owned), read through the thread but could not find answer on the Android TV loaded on Sony TV.

I am familiar with Android TV platform ,having 2 Android TV box,Nexus Player and nVidia Shield. nVidia Shield is definitely the better performance one.

Questions
1) How much storage left behind for app installation
2) RAM capacity.
3) Performance
in relative comparison, does it run better than like Google Nexus Player ? Or comparing it to an Android Phone, around which performance range like?

Android TV platform ,to be frank it is not mature and not as flexible comparing to those China Android box that load standard android (support touch/mouse click/ leanback(navigation keys only) however for paid app and google stuff and software stability , Android TV is 10x better.

keen on a 50"(for bed room,no need so big ) 4k model .

Recommending Killer apps
Media Category
1) CartoonHD app, not available on play store.Super smooth streaming on latest movies..,need to use mouse/touchpad
2) MoviesHD, same features set as above
3) MX Player..to associate custom play with above 2 apps, this player allows online subtitle support

4) Hot Drama 2, HK drama in cantonese..

5) Kodi- big monster, available on Android TV play store
-> dont suggest to use if the Android TV has weak processing power and with limited internal storage ( it required around 600-800MB local storage)

6) ES File Manager -available on android TV play store
this helps to transfer apk/files to the TV box with ease, can connect to cloud storage too..super useful tool

I installed movie HD app on my sony tv, able to watch movie on the first day but 2nd day onwards it show "no connection". Any help?

For those who want 3D viewing feature for the Sony 4k tv better grab the 2015 model X8500C as the successor X8500D does not have 3D anymore. Only the flagship X9300D support 3D viewing.

The only difference between X8500D and X8500C is the removal of 3D view and UHD vs HDR quality right?

Is it very significant improvement from UHD to HDR?

Thanks.

The only full HDR equipped tv is the flagship x930/940 model. The x series are just compatible only. I am not sure whether our local X8500C has really got it firmware upgraded to enable HDR viewing.

Also the 65 and 75 X8500C are direct lit where all the newer X8500D r edge lit model. Latest model r slimmer and lighter too.

Although I am no fan of 3d and yet to calibre the 3d glasses on my X8500C. I find the 2016 model is not better as it seem.

though more models move to edge lit, isn't direct lit better than edge lit in terms of local dimming?

Nothing to change, but still need to release new model numbers to show, right? Just change from c to d.

I always turn those settings off.

But as mentioned by others above, it's easy to trial it out yourself to see what you prefer. It's quite an obvious change. ;)

Should i turn on or off for motionflow settings? Most of the 'pros' recommend to turn it off to avoid soap opera effect.

with the introduction of the new models, would they do a fire sale of the current models?

I am deciding between 2015's W700C vs 2016's W650 which would you choose? W650 newer model but audio only 5+5W. W700C speaker is 10+10W
