opps. pai seh, i didnt read the pages back.

its not a large leak, just some. Cause test pen did lighted up when i tested it. I took a PS3 power cable which had an earth connector but didnt seem to resolve the issue. I tried other power outlets at home but didnt seem to resolve the issue.

It's probably the way the circuit is design...

I will try to remember to come back to feedback next week after i test it..

That's a big problem IMO when the test pen lights up. My X8500c had the same problem out of the box and the dealer said "Normal" and they wanted to "rectify" this by connecting a ground wire, which I did not accept.

In my case the test pen did not light but still can feel the electrical sensation. This is a sign of some electrical insulation/isolation problem. Using a 3-pin plug will not solve the problem as only 2-wires (Live & Neutral)goes to into the TV.

Long story short, I got my TV replaced. No problem with replacement.

Oh my, wished i had read your reply (1st paragraph) earlier. The service engineer came in today.

Previously, i took the ps3's 2pin power cable terminated with 3pin plug which does not seem to help either.

The engineer then demo'ed with a ground wire plugged to another socket, which no leak was seen. Similarly, he explained that when i connect to a device (i.e. computer HDMI) which PSU has earth cable. There will be no leak.

So meaning to say it is possible to get a 2pin plug solution without earth and does not leak electricity?

I guess he connected a wire to one of the screws of the TV chassis and put the wire to a ground of the wall socket. This is the "standard" and common method. This solves the feeling the electrical leakage problem, but this does not really solve the problem as it just let the leakage flow to ground as the leak is still there.

If this is the solution then Sony would have designed the TV with a ground connection.

Okays. I'll mail the CSO for black and white, if they acknowledge this issue.

I'm lost for words when i saw the reply.
Anyways, for the record in case anyone is wondering.

Refer to your email enquiry on the repair status, I have checked with the technician on the repair. They provide the explanation as follow.

1) Due to the design of the 2 Pin Plug there will be a static flow.
2) Based on the current connection that you are having which is the HDMI connection there is already a earth connection, thus the TV should have no issue.

This is not a manufacturing defect, it is design in such way and within the specification. The way that we can assist customer is to ground the TV. In this case yo refuse due to you do not want an extra cable connecting to the TV.

Therefore nothing much can be done from Sony Side, rest assured that we will feedback this design issue to our design team for future enhancement.

I did with my palm and finger can't feel any..but with the inside of my arm near the elbow no need to rub, just touch can feel..
But limited to that small silver lining which runs around the tv..

Okays. Maybe like the service technician mentioned. Different people different threshold. Nevertheless thanks for your help to verify.

Did u Update your tv firmware? My X8500C has gone thru 3 updates since I bought it August last year. However your issue seem to relate to my minor issue. The unresponsive remote control. However I used my z3 tablet as my spare remote.
