Anybody find that there's a slight response lag when using the conventional remote with their 55X8500C?

I think it will be the same with most other tv unless you use full motion mounts which I didn't because I wanted a more flushed look.

I got the wires ready in their respective places before the mounting is done

I see (I'd also understand Sony didn't change the position of the LAN port from the previous gen of this model); luckily the LAN cable is one cable that I need not constantly re-connect.

Over the weekend, I took delivery of a 55X8500C for my home and a 55W800C for my parent's place. Seated at about 3m from the screen at both homes, I do see a difference in picture quality. I would add that the source was starhub cable at my parents place vs miotv at my place.

I initially wanted the W800C as I felt that it would do since my main source is miotv. But pixel peeping aside, the X8500C does produce better contrast and the colours are deeper and more vibrant.

How much 55X8500C & 55W800C cost?

And the restart bug is back.
For those who want to know I had a problem with my Sony 50inch W800C constantly restarting when left turned on. It was not due to eco mode, power saving mode etc, which were turned off. It just kept restarting haphazardly when in analog TV mode, in Play store, when going thru my settings menu, playing youtube videos etc. Some time it would be a few minutes between restarts, sometimes, 20-30min or more. Firmware was the latest according to the settings menu.

So I kpkb and got just the set exchanged. I ran the exchange set for hours over the weekend using the same power adapter and wall socket. No restarts, yay... And I even fed back to the Sony service guy who called that all was ok.
But last night, it all restarted again....

The first time it restarted, it took at least 1-2 mins to restart again, and even then it stuttered A LOT in its UI and when showing analog TV. It also could not detect any wifi signal, not even from the neighbours.

So I turned off the wall socket, waited a while and turned on again. Turned on the TV again, now it can detect and connect to wifi. However, restart restart restart, I think at least 5-6 times within 30mins. I check the firmware status, it's the latest. I also note that its in auto update mode. But I dunno when/if a firmware update had occurred, if the latest firmware is what caused the bug to reoccur.

Next day, I change tactics, I change the plug to the adjacent wall socket that my modem and router are using. I never had appearing and disappearing wifi signal on my phone and laptop in my house, so that wall socket is confirm no problem. However, restart still occurred within 10+mins. After that I videoed the screen for almost 20 mins. The second restart is captured during the last few minutes. You can see both remote controls are on the sofa when the restart occurs, so it's not me controlling the restart.

Anyway, I'm gonna try to use this video to get a full refund. Also posting this everywhere to kpkb about Sony for selling this crap to me.

I feel smart tv has not reached the capability of the what the smartphone / tablet can do. Especially where crashes and bugs are commom in android platform. U don't ask for a refund on the smart phone. Most smart tv owners feel that it just doesn't work well at all. I guess why people will rather choose to chromecast. android tv box and screen mirroring. The main objective role of the tv is to give quality image when viewing with HD source like bluray.

My x85c has no restarting issues at all. I try upgrading the firmware but it's up to date so I guess it's the latest fw out of box.

The starting up (the part with the colour android word forming ) is a bit slower than I would have liked though. But i think future firmware upgrades may solve that issue.

In fact, I am enjoying its picture quality. It looks fantastic when I play even hd5 on set top box.

Wow, thanks for the tip! Will try this if Sony refuses to do full refund. Yes.... I'm still going to try for a full refund, because i feel that a company like Sony ands a tv costing $1599, shouldn't need consumers to have to try their luck like that. And they had the cheek to tell me this restarting issue has never occurred before, I'm the first case.... when actually it had occurred to you as well as documented as long ago as 2013!

i have used the vpn to access the x85c. now i can see the usa apps like bloomberg. but i can't see the netflix app in the google play store nor anywhere else.

must i update the firmware? i am from singapore, so the original firmware has no updates. do i need to do anything like change the location on the tv, or download the isa firmware (now that i am suppose to be on a usa server)

is the latest firmware in US stable?

FYI, Sony called me and told me the factory is releasing TODAY a new firmware update to address this issue, which he tells me has to do with the software. So there is an issue. Whether or not it can be fixed permanently by this update, it's anyone's guess.

Good luck to anyone wanting to try their luck with this brand and model. On the bright side, their aftersales support really very good, very prompt and attentive, no excuses, and agreed to a full refund. Just that, ****h, waste my time and effort travelling to Somerset, testing the damn machine and so on.

My parent's set(55W800C) had the restarting issue. However, I was told to go to settings menu and reset the tv. So far, it has been fine for the last 3 days.
