How do you feel about the black levels vs an OLED?
i don't think my Bravia 7 mini-LED can be compared to OLED deep blacks, but it's quite near. At least i do not see any blooming so far as comapred to lower end models. I initally wanted to get X90L, but noticed the blooming at the stores, i cannot take it if i wanted to use it for long term.

The black colours is pretty deep enough even in dark room.

I have no intentions to defend any brand when it comes to quality control. Look through all the different brands (samsung, tcl, prism etc) threads, there are complains in all shapes and form exactly like yours where they were unluckily given a unit that lasted less than x number of years.

TCL seems to have more complains than Sony if you've read the TCL thread when it comes to customer service/warranty handling, so their "5 years" warranty can be considered a joke in disguise. We can go on and on about all the other brands, tons of horror stories. All these brands have their bads, goods and ugly, just have to pick our poison.
Every brands has problems of its own, but there is one thing that is non-debatable, Sony is way too expensive compare to the rest. And for the price, they ought to be better. Otherwise why bother?

And this is not "unlucky", it is charging a premium for poor quality. They can choose to charge 1/10 of their price and call me unlucky all they want too.

Here's a nice comparison video between X90L and B7

Another good one between B7 and B9

Exactly, even enthusiast user like you wouldn't defend sony for their durability. Perhaps Sony is only "sensible" for enthusiast who have a lot of money to spare and time to keep replacing it for quality that is only meaningful to the most enthusiastic and don't mind their lousy customer service.

** Btw I wasn't even referring to Prism+, since they only offer 3 years warranty. TCL offers 5.
Im not sure about newer builds but my 55w904A which is over 10 years old looks brand new, metallic finish is shiny, and image quality and brightness is still impeccable. My Sony 75z9d is also going strong too. And we use the TVs regularly. I suspect the best panels are reserved for the flagship models.

Sony x90 or bravia 7/8 is like a downfall series and nothing compares to o-led screen.

Try sharp FV1 x-led and that is the closest darkness o-led, thank me later.

I used to own a Sharp Aquos - damn good TV

I replaced it after 10 years, not because it died, but I wanted a larger screen

May seriously consider the latest Sharp TV to replace my 7-year Samsung, thanks

I have same thought years back until I replaced to OLED and believe technology changes so fast for video and audio compared to those days..

Guys
is it worth repairing my 55XG80 set?
unit can’t power up… sigh
coming to 6 years!! cable connection seems ok.
my previous sony 40” refused to die even after 14 yrs but to chose to give it away to get the above unit.

i saw the likes of BD and Harvey Norman are clearing x90 series but i will prefer x95 series.

Not a fan of samsung but LG oled looks tempting too.

good or bad TV image is in the eye of the beholder… i had always told friends or colleagues if can’t tell the difference, just go for the biggest size with the budget they have.
