Sorry, I do not have the CEO email and I already mentioned that it has nothing to do with SEA Region but only Singapore Market as their main SEA markets are Taiwan and Hong Kong which have better sales than Singapore.

If you are those just satisfied with lower specs and fully auto camera mode then iPhone is a good choice while those looking on the Pro Manual mode on the Camera then Xperia 1II is a better choice with 4K Screen and Dolby Atmos Speakers compared to iPhone.

lets find the email and write to sony jp ceo, who was from camera division and is a product person. he should understand our pain his singapore office jlb.

disagree, iphone 12 specs should destroy xperia and android this year, every year as always. even its screen without 4k, has high enough ppi and good color calibration and brightness and refresh rate.

And about iphone vs Xperia, I dont really wanna stir further but i will just say that people should just buy what they like. If you like Xperia, you will find some way to buy it, import or wait till end august. If you like iPhone, enjoy the upcoming announcement event, sure wont let down one.

I hope ppl will not just look at the specs alone when comparing phones. If want to compare spec by spec, Xperia phones will never win. Might as well buy China phones. It is the snall features that are unique to Xperia that makes it stand out from the rest and worth the price.

Battery care, heat suppression, notification led, 3.5mm, manual camera controls, dedicated camera button, PS4 integration, front facing speakers, fingerprint scanner w/ power button, DSEE ultimate, creator mode display. I can go on, but you get the point.

Sure, it may not be the phone for everyone but I think it appeals to a certain group of people who appreciate details and user experience. And I like the direction Sony is taking this time round.

Sadly, not many people look past this. Just see an overpriced phone based on spec then just bash it.

This brother hit the nail on the head. No phone is for everyone but some people will overpay to get what they want in a phone.

I am not a photographer, not by a long shot but after I heard they bringing back the 3.5mm with DSEE and a symmetrical design, it was hard to reject.

I will be coming from a Galaxy Note9 and it had every feature I wanted and some more. I not willing to give that up and it seems Sony has what I want.

is more the treatment by sony here. same as samsung selling us overpriced exynos. both think singapore customers too rich and carrot head. if we continue to sarpork their evil ways....

specs wise, we know apple is always best, but i almost onboard sony even after latest set back, PO on 31Aug but receive only in Oct...

the last straw is no 5G even though hardware is inside?
unless we can flash SEA rom to enable it?

apple treatment is miles better for singapore base.
apple OS/security support is top notch.
and now android phones prices are same premium with apple...shooting their own foot.

if they remove 5g, delay until oct, give lousy reason, no way they bundle latest xm4. that's why must complain to jp ceo.

I know the main point of the phone is the manual setting, but there will be times where I don't feel like tweaking the settings and just want a simple P&S

does the app also offer a timestamp feature? my work requires photos with timestamp

Yes, I agree the treatment isn't as good here.. just hope they can compensate with a better freebie.

As for 5g, I suspect what Carl meant was the hardware will not support it. If that's true, I'm guessing Sony's thought is to reduce cost since the 5g infra here will not be mature in the next 2 years anyway. If they really do bundle a xm4, we actually have the best offer as compared to other regions. Other regions get WF xm3 for about 1.63.

alr got trials for starhub (apparently). and singtel registering interest.. so can probably see about 70% coverage by this year and next alr..

sorry to spoilt the party. but I have used iPhone (and currently am due to company providing one), Samsung and Sony..


out of all three Sony has still been the best reliability wise as perf..


for Samsung, I used 3 but once a major OS update comes, the phone will start to lag AF.


For my Xperia xz2, I went through 2 major updates and still no lag at all.


battery life also very good. after 2 years can still hold charge for 3/4 a day. all three samsungs I used couldn't hold half a day charge within 1 year.


Apple... just too restrictive.. its a phone for those who don't know better..


A lot of "new" features being introduced on apple phones yearly are just ported features available in android for the past 3 years. lol

If u are using the main Telcos and not MVNOs, got chance. But likely even then, telcos will only allow devices that are purchased through them (probably via device plans and not sim only) to participate in the trial. So likely Sony got no chance even if the hardware allows it.

Singapore don't have SIM lock. I don't think they will lock based on device. I believe that if you do purchase a 5G plan then you will get it.

As for MVNO, wait and wait just like 1II.

Wow, thanks for the enlightenment but I did not know that iphone specs are better than android smartphones so their 2K screen is better than the 4K screen in Xperia!

The reason why I presumed that it is software lock is cos we receiving the same variant as TW and HK: XQ-AT52. If we were to receive the single sim 4G variant like the XQ-AT51 in the USA and some part of Europe, flashing across very risky and I definitely not rich enough to risk that.

Either way fingers crossed. Maybe I call Sony act dumb dumb to ask clarification.

The US side AT51 have 5G from the 865 built-in modem but its Sub-6 and only certain frequencies that America dont support. Check the previous pages someone got post a detailed explanation and I may not be able to explain it very well.

I dont really need 5G either but I dont want to buy a phone that is handicapped cos lazy. if this is a 200 dollar xiaomi fone, fine whatever but this is 1599.

Hopefully got demo in store on 31st August i go down check settings. Maybe by then we will know whether is XM4, XM3 or some not so good stuff.

Go set photography pro to auto mode can already. As for time stamp, nope. Need to view metadata / exif instead.

If you check the specification of the phone on Sony SG vs Sony SEA website, you will see that 5G is not listed for SG and 5G is listed for SEA.

You can see the Taiwanese site in English as well.
