2 years support only is a shame indeed, esp for flagship
Yes, this. Was hoping for at least 3 since Sony likes to advertise their battery capacity only depletes by x% after 3 years. So in that sense there's some expectations the phone is gonna be used for 3 years at least.

I was under the impression 2 major version upgrades and 3 year security updates. But can`t find any official statement on that.

So far the 2 major versions of Android part seems to be true from experience (Xperia 1 III from Android 11 to 13). But somehow after the 2 years mark updates just stop entirely altogether for my 1 ii. Not sure if it's an oversight on Sony's part and have yet to see what happens for 1 III beyond the 2 years mark.

last version was 2 years and 2 major updates..

so i would presume if android 13 had been late, it would be more than 2 years lor

Same. Buying a cheap glass protector as insurance. Breaking a glass protector is always better than the display glass that costs few hundreds to repair.
There was once I was traveling in a train overseas. My phone was in my jeans pocket. When I stood up, my thigh was caught in the seat handle with my phone in it. The pressure caused a horrible crack on the screen protector. The phone itself was unscratched. So yes screen protector has its uses.

Seems like many of you all went for the Black but will be going down to preorder the Green this weekend.
