Finally collected after 3 weeks! -That's more down time than I've actually used it!
Initially when the technician called to update, I asked if I could get a one-to-one exchange since it has been sooo long but nope. Service report shows 8 replaced parts including USB, speaker, battery and motherboard itself. The rest is some adhesive. IMEI changed to 5229 from 3829.
When I asked the 313 counter, there's no additional warranty, unlike Toader's replacement.
What a terrible first-time experience with Sony phone, but the staff are all good albeit following standard scripts.

Just when I start to daily drive it again, noticed there's a 'loose' sound coming from the zoom lens when rotating the phone -_- Anyone can confirm if the same on your sample (without activating the camera app)?

You paid close to $2k for a phone and it broke down, and the replacement now feels like it wasn't assembled properly?

I really can't comprehend how some people can still continue to defend the brand. Sounds completely unacceptable to me, I'd be bothered by the sound too if I were in your shoes. No phone should be making a noise at the camera lens area no matter how much you shake it, let alone a simple rotation. What are they using to secure parts together? Silkworms?

The level of mental gymnastics that some people here exercise to try and rationalise your problem is astounding. I suggest you bring your phone down to the service centre and have it checked again. Your phone already broke down once which should not have happened in the first place, the least Sony can do is to ensure your experience is worry-free now.

Camera phones shaking sound in phones is TOTALLY NORMAL and it happens in ALL CAMERA PHONES, NOT JUST SONY.

For those who does not know how physics works, can go and CREATE YOUR OWN COMPANY AND DESIGN AND MAKE YOUR OWN CAMERA PHONE such that it will TOTALLY NOT MAKE ANY RATTLING SOUND.

Or you can dont buy a camera phone. Go and buy a dumb phone and use since it irritates you so much.

Interestingly, my sim free japanese set has also received the same firmware update and now the version number is the same - 71.0.A.2.76 (albeit at a smaller size download).

Also, the phone is still running fine. Just wondering do I dare to use it as a daily work phone sigh.

You must be really triggered huh.

The commenter with the problem already said he ROTATED the phone and it made a sound that unsettled him because it should not occur when he ROTATED it.

Strange, it didn't occur on my 1IV that I'm still using since launch. Must be a faulty product then.

Did you even read my advice to that fellow xperia 1vii member?

Do you even OWN AND USED this phone? Do you even have the experience to say and stir **** here when you did not even own and used one.

Your xperia 1IV no sound? Who are you kidding? I owned and used this phone before as well. And look. Who created the Xperia 1IV topic.

Sir, shouting with bold and caps does not make you right. You don't have to keep doing it. You can debate me at a normal volume.

(I used it back at you but did not expect you to keep doing it jeez tone it down lah, no need to be so triggered what)

And once again, you are reverting to your habit of disregarding other people's experiences with this brand. So if you don't believe that my 1IV camera lens does not make a sound - and I already have a ton of grievances with this phone that are well documented on this forum so really it should be more likely that my phone has one more "feature" that unsettles me - does it make me a liar and completely inaccurate? Hm.

I only brought up my 1IV because you make it sound like a wobbly camera lens noise is perfectly normal, and I'm just sharing that I have yet to experience it myself. And with all my other previous phones too. So if I had encountered a wobbly lens sound after sending in my newly bought $2000 phone for repairs, I would be just as unsettled as the original commenter - I genuinely hope his phone is fine.

At the end of the day I hope we agree that all the problems documented here are all too disappointing from the brand that you love.

Unless you are feeling buyer's remorse yourself since you had the dreaded motherboard issue as well and are just trying to cover up your feelings too? I hope not.

Anyway, if you still believe that this phone is the best phone that's been released for you, that's great. Maybe tone down on the evangelising?

I think stirring **** and calling out blind fanboyism are not the same. I'm on this forum still because I'm curious to see if this phone would get better over time, but so far your defence of the phone is not convincing.

And if I'm a Sony hater, I would have already thrown my 1IV away a long time ago.

Just looking for a little more nuance from you that's all.

Again . Read what I told the new user. You did not own and used the phone yet you complain like a spoilt brat and behaving as if you owned this phone since it came out. How credible are you to comment on a phone you have not even owned and used before.

Also, I already noticed you've been making so much fuss since many postings ago. Your incessant Rantings do not Help Sony thrive at all. You think Sony deliberately want their mobile business to fail? Be thankful for their many inventions and designs which made competitions advance and they still succeed in Mobile business, instead of your incessant whining and false information influence. IF you are that good , go and take over their business and change for the better. I'm not a blind fanboy I know and read news too. But I still Support them because of their great Design and innovation.

Talk about costly? You come up with the world's firsts and new inventions and designs then. R & D no need money? You sponsor them instead? I also know they are costly but THEY INVENT AND INNOVATE MORE THAN OTHERS. (And yes I deliberately caps and bold these words to drive them into your brain.)

And before you make any false information and tarnish them further, do your own homework and research before you open your mouth and comment. I seriously doubt you are any supportive of them at all, looking at the way you comment as if they owe you billions. Without owning and using the 1vii, your credibility is as good as zero.

Ok we should stop arguing with each other on the poor workmanship in Sony phones

From what I understand from this and I give my point of view

Given that I own mark III and mark V, when camera or reboot is triggered, camera will trigger the sound, that sound is because on the variable zoom lens, there is some mechanical sound to turn on the lens

For me, I don't own mark VII and no intent to buy it is because they don't have 4k display resolution on the phone, otherwise, I could had preorder mark VII back in may

Next is I visit Holland village outlet few days ago and compare display quality between my mark V, and their mark VI and mark VII

Clearly mark VI is worse than mark V in terms of clearness of the video

But VII is very close and even perform better than mark V in terms of contrast, colour and sometimes sharpness on certain landscape such as urban landscapes and land mass but mark V performs well when it display clouds and skies

I can say VII are around 95% there

Also, they are now sell $1909, already reduce $60 from launch price

Was shooting in full auto but realized Ultra HDR was not turned on...

This spider was very calm and not threatened by my camera presence. Interesting.

Ultra HDR activated.

UW Macro around 6cm away, touch focus.

120mm manual focus..

Another UW macro, touch focus.
