Whether 5ii or S20FE is better is a value judgement here ba. All boils down to what is important for you.

If you absolutely need wireless charging and 3 generations of Android updates, then go with the S20FE. If you can't live without a 3.5mm jack and hate punchhole display, then go with the 5ii.

Both Sony and Samsung have fairly compelling products right now and it's good to see that there are more options worth considering in this price range.

Nope, this is a Sony forum. So the 5ii is a better buy. :)

Can't argue with that. Haha. I'm rooting for Sony as well, and I must say the new lineup is giving new life to the brand. I used to be huge Sony Ericsson fan, going from the T68 to K750i, before going on to use the Z Ultra, XZ, XZ1 Compact, Z2 Tablet and Smart watch 3. Many good memories but was somewhat disappointed with their products after that. Not exactly due for an upgrade yet but at the rate Sony is going, there's a strong chance it'll be one of the models from their 2021 product line.

You can get a iphone 11 brand new now for less than $1K. S$800 plus for the smallest storage. Xperia 5 can be purchase brand new for under $1K now too.

Go up one tier, you can get the iphone 11 pro/pro max brand new from S$1.1k. At the same price range, you can get a brand new Xperia 1 too.

They are price similarly.

Jumped on a flash promo to get a fruit 11 pro for a good price and sold it, hopefully the 5 ii will release in sg.. Or else might import from HK. It's about 1350 sgd.

Looking at TW and HK launching the Xperia 5ii and available in mid-October...makes me wonder why SG cant do the same. At least can let us know when the phone is launching here.

I am on the fence between Xperia 5ii and Pixel 5.

Sony sales over those regions are better, obviously more focus for them than other places.

I dropped an FB message to Sony SG asking if they will bring it in but no response on that unfortunately.

I hope we'll get some sort of confirmation soon. Would much rather get a local set with warranty and any potential freebie than an export set, even though the price is 100 cheaper than 'usual'.

Ohh yes...definitely know that the region are larger and they will focus there more. But that does not mean they should not forgo the SEA market totally.

Just look at the marketing...the IG handle for sonyxperiahk and sonyxperiatw are very much active. The IG for sonyxperiasg has only 1 single post...in 2017.:s13:

Anyone know export set has any difference? Thinking to ask my friend to get from TW.

If 1 II was released in Feb 2020 and sinkies are only getting local set in Sept, I think we will get 5 II local set when Android 12 is rolled out

The specs for the HK one looks pretty much like the international version.

Only thing I heard is that JP version has a different NFC hardware.

Only sad thing is pay fullprice with no freebie haha..

If Sony SG suddenly has one it'll be abit sian.

This is how not to expand businesses 😁

are you referring to the dummy (x1 mark ii) or an actual demo set (with working interface, camera, etc.)? last week was still the dummy.

Last weekend I saw Xperia 1 II demo sets (not dummy) at 313 Somerset Sony Store.
