Have you even tried bottled water? Mineral kind. Not RO or distilled.
Does it help. I try later
In my own experience, for myself and the people around me.
Best is Evian. Next is Aqua then Polar.
Do note Evian is cooling.
Coating the throat with sugary food helps in the short term.
Some points to ponder.
Does your sore throat comes during the dry season?
When did the whole sore throat episode started ? Was it forever there or at a certain point of time?
Hope it works for you like what it did for me.
By the way does 3 legged water help?
It was recurring. Stop for 2 weeks and come back again. Have to solve it by taking large dose of honey.
Sometimes half a capsule of Ibuprofen
I never try 3 legged water.
My take is drink bottled water to regularly to flush the sore throat and to prevent dryness.
The whole idea is to prevent it from going to the anti-botic stage.
I hope you are using good quality honey.
Too much sugar in mouth and throat area will give rise to other issues.
The times I feel the sore throat coming, I take Serratiopeptidase.
In your recollection on the re-occurrence, are you living in the same location ?
Yes, stay in the same room for many years.
Now never on aircon.
Doctor say I am vulnerable due to 2 reason.
Allergic rhintihis - blocked nose on one side when at night.
Tonsil - doctor say it is asymmetrical, meaning one side have tonsil the other side like don't have.
Does Ice mountain helps as well
Brought some bottle

IMHO.
I suggest you do a google search using these keywords - sugar sore throat tonsils
I did a brief www search on Allergic rhinitis - caused by allergens in the air.
Let's speculate that your blocked nose could be likely the root cause.
When you have blocked nose, do you also partially (or fully) breathe using your mouth?
Nose have hairs to trap foreign particles but if breathe thru the mouth, some of them will end up on the throat.
Perhaps you can identify if your surrounding have allergens that cause your allergic rhinitis?
Are you near the expressway?
Are you near industrial estate?
Are you near green park with flowers?
Are you in Punggol near Pasir Gudang?
If you want a good way to remove potential allergens from your room, you can DIY your aircon using the 3M Filtrete Air Filter. The downside of this is that the aircon causes low humidity - drys the air. Dry air can cause dry nose and throat. Maybe that is why I see humidifier in those Korean drama.
You will need to do something for the asymmetrical tonsil.
Oh ya, I do consume a lot of sugar on a daily basis though. Can be packet drink, fruit juice, on soda
Perhaps changing to artificial sugar will help?
When I have blocked nose, I breathe through the other nostril and my mouth. Happens 90 percent of the time. Strangely as soon as I get out of my bed, the blocked nose minimized.
other than relief from using drinks, medications (western or herbal), lozenges does anyone have recommendations to make the air better? My father is a heavy smoker and incense burner and my neighbors - both left and right are very unforgiving noise generators.
I have been trying and considering different methods but some of them dont really make sense.
- opened more windows, or enclosed shut-in room
- plant more desk fans to ventilate room
- (people's recommendation, but i doubt it aids?) humidifier, air purifier, essential oils
- (another tough recommendation) leave the place when it occurs, feels very wrong to chose this option
in addition, i noticed that i often get sore throat easily after short talking sessions with people i.e. <15 mins - until today no professionals gave me a good solution other than paracetamol or lozenges

IMHO.
Air purifier that relies on filtration will take time to circulate the air.
An alternative would be air ioniser.
The importance is to remove the pollutants physically rather than mask it using a fragrance.
The brand Novita has one such device - never used it before.
Not sure if it is still available at Popular (bookstore) - Honeywell Tower Fan with Ioniser.
On the sore throat, mouth dryness ?
I always like to suggest to drink the right bottled water for a start.
If really want lozenges, my GP have a brand call Zecuff (green).
P.S.
Just sharing my experience.![]()
Think of it, how much will a few bottle of Evian cost ? Of course over the long run, it is expensive.![]()
Thanks for recommendation, after some thoughts feels like hurting to spend more money just to run away from problems in the first place.
Those purifiers I believe need to constantly replace filters. i.e. xiaomi those stuff? and yea i think i read before about it requiring time before it clears or circulates off
I dont think I can go for option for more water or lozenges. Its more of a temporary relief of the issue only. Without solving the problem in the first place.
But I'll consider the lozenges. Thanks again keenklee
