uh, first thing that comes to my mind: how much free space left? if <25% move your data elsewhere.

Use Task Manager to check. Right click on the blank space in the Task bar and select Task Manager.

Too many unwanted programs loaded into memory at start-up and this may explain the slow boot.

Use msconfig to disable unwanted programs.

Hello,

I saw people use the Run software to run the msconfig, actually what is the usage of msconfig? Can you explain it?

Thanks! :)

Nowadays, most software such as Java, Quicktime, Adobe, etc will put their applet in the systray when system start. These applets load when windows start and continue to hoard cpu/memory resources. So use msconfig to disable them from starting at windows start.

nowadays, if you're using Windows 8, don't even need to open msconfig already, the task manager would allow you to disable the apps, and would even show you which apps are taking a long time to start up...

Oh, okok. Thank you for your explanation! :)
Err, how to do it? Can you teach or show me the step?

If you are running Win 8, follow xkiller213 to go to Startup and disable most unwanted applets.

If you are running Win 7, press Windows + R keys to invoke the Run dialog. Enter "msconfig" in the field without the quote.
Go to Startup tab and disable those unwanted applets.

Make sure you don't disable security application as well as other necessary programs. If you make a mistake, you can always enable back.

Oh, okok. Thank you for your explanation! :)
