SSD Boot up window slow

Hi guys my ssd is around 1 year plus old i notice its getting very slow when booting into windows and shutting down too.

Can you guys help me with this ?

I am using intel 520 120gb ssd

Use msconfig to disable unwanted programs.

I saw people use the Run software to run the msconfig, actually what is the usage of msconfig? Can you explain it?

Nowadays, most software such as Java, Quicktime, Adobe, etc will put their applet in the systray when system start. These applets load when windows start and continue to hoard cpu/memory resources. So use msconfig to disable them from starting at windows start.

nowadays, if you're using Windows 8, don't even need to open msconfig already, the task manager would allow you to disable the apps, and would even show you which apps are taking a long time to start up...

If you are running Win 8, follow xkiller213 to go to Startup and disable most unwanted applets.

If you are running Win 7, press Windows + R keys to invoke the Run dialog. Enter "msconfig" in the field without the quote.
Go to Startup tab and disable those unwanted applets.

Make sure you don't disable security application as well as other necessary programs. If you make a mistake, you can always enable back.
