Kingston SanDisk brand not as good and reliable as in old days .

Use a disk clone tool such as Aomei backupper or macrium reflect.

Btw, i also have a samsung 840 Evo that is used for 4 years till now. Wonder if anyone have good experience with Adata as their sx8200 model is value for money.

My Adata SX8200 Pro has been working perfectly. No issues at all. In any case, 5 years warranty so no worries.

do u guys reckon getting nvme m2 as opposed to sata ssd is a waste of $? frankly speaking my pc usage quite casual (internet) and occasional gaming, no production work. either way there's no benefit of a nvme for such usage right

No real world benefit. NVMe boots faster and benchmarks better but not really noticeable in daily use. That said, the price difference is quite small so I would still go for NVMe. Paid about S$320 for my 2 TB Adata SX8200 Pro and I doubt there are 2 TB SATA SSDs which are substantially cheaper.

Not an expert but I did some research when looking for SSD last year.
I don't think there is any great benefit in normal casual use. Game load times won't have much difference from my experience with NVME drive.

For people who need to write large files fast, even with NVME ssds, there are also different types and some has high peak speed but cannot sustain over a long time and speed will drop to slower than SATA SSD or even HDD speed after a while, due to limitations in the cache or controller. Higher quality(and usually more expensive) ones will have high speeds and sustain it in large files writes(maybe like 50GB+).

Decent sata SSD like the samsung evo 860 or crucial mx500 series are not bad models with tlc nand(better than qlc) so they are decent in my opinion. If you really want NVME ssd, models like the intel 660p or crucial p1 can be found on amazon quite low price sometimes, I think they are very good enough for casual use but from reviews their sustainable write speed really sucks and may be slower than Sata drives like Samsung evo 860 when transferring very large files.

Over the years I've bought Samsung 940, 950, 970 from Amazon and no issues till now. Of course at those times it was during sales.

I bought WD SSD Blue from SLS still going strong. Up to you where you want to buy from.

one day halfway thru my game got a BSOD. after that was all downhill. crash on bootup, intermittent undetectable in bios, secure erase and reinstall windows also could not complete.

final straw when i got I/O error copying in a 2gb file for testing using ubuntu booted from thumb drive.

I bought Silicon Power MLC from Amazon 5 years ago because it was cheaper by 1/3 than anything I can find locally.

No problems at all past 5 years, just decommisioned it yesterday after the mobo died. Maybe it will go into my next built as additional storage.

and heat issue seems to be significant so need a nvme heatsink
