i see lesser ssd on the market nowadays, thinking might as well change to m.2

can asus PRIME B350-PLUS support ADATA XPG SX8200 PRO PCIe?
my bios is 2017, do i need to update the bios inorder to use this m.2?

Go to Asus web site and check on your motherboard component compatibility list for SSD.

Yes, the Adata should work since the MB supports PCIe M.2 SSD.

Shouldn't be necessary but might as well update the BIOS to the latest for the performance tweaks.

ok thank you so much. :D

look like using m.2 will disable 2 of my sata ports. :(

It will only disable your last 2 SATA ports if you are using AMD 7th Generation A-series/Athlon™ Processors. if using Ryzen gen 1,2,3, it will not disable.

Usually, only for those mobo with 2 or more nvme m.2 slots, then the 2nd one (usually the one located below) is linked to SATA ports and will disable those.

The m.2 is linked to two of the SATA ports according to the specs so will disable the two ports.

Weird that the online specs in website states for Athlon cpu but manual states for both ryzen and Athlon. Aint the online specs supposed to follow the manual?? lol

If pci e, how much premium can it command?

Also is it better to get 2 512 GB ssd or 1 1tb ssd?

Im very scare ssd will fail and wipe everything out

Sorry, below $100 for not-so-high-end 512gb sata ssd. If nvme, can consider adata sx8200 pro 512gb at $133 and below.

1TB >> 2*512GB, in terms of performance. for data safe, unless you use raid 1, otherwise 2*512GB have no advantage.

AData sx8200pro 512mb 119 @ lazada with local warranty

wah $119 for 512 gb? ish keyi :s12::s12::s12:

oic, if no use raid 1, then 2 ssd no use

reason im asking is i rmb researching for ssd back when they were quite ex...sth like if power cut off or u go defrag when u got ssd, then ur ssd will die fast or corrupt

the data i have is very important

if corrupt then I can prepare to jump off and fly to space

i subscribe to cloud and sync my hard disk to the cloud as backup but this method might not work in real time always
lucky my laptop hdd still very solid these few years but not sure about ssd since i never use them before for laptop

Just get a 1TB Intel 660p from amazon. Nothing comes close to the price:performance.

For me, 512....
if ur primary drive require more than 512 for app Or u got do backup, then 1tb ssd.

Although a lot of people said ssd got long life or durable, me have encounter used 3 month then go rma, others people use than 1 year. Unlike hdd, ssd die is instant, cant even access to recover. few month ago, something corrupted my file system but lucky i got backup....:s22:

Yes, this is the thing I'm most afraid of! And dunno if warranty cover data recovery or not

Do u rmb what cause it to fail? What r the common reasons why ssd fail?

What did u use to backup?

My current hdd use for 5 years still going

Dunno if ssd can live as long or not
