What you said about POSB is exactly the reason why I question why are they accepting high amount this time.
BTW when banks fix their fd rates , they do consider their expectations of FUTURE rate movements .
If they suspect that the situation will u turn up, no matter how negligibly, they will try to lock in your money now.
the 3% earmarked promotion seems to be targeted at certain individuals only and by invitation. so they must have their reasons for doing so. for posb/dbs fd they already reduced from 3.2% to 2.45% for the 12 months one (the highest interest).

You need to calculate the Nov & Dec ADB .. Bonus interest is based on that difference.
Huh? I joined the Marathon in late Dec.
Topped up more in Jan. My Jan bonus is based on incremental avg balance compared to which month? Not Nov?

Edit: I checked. It's compared to Nov
The reference month doesn't change

wtf just changed the transfer limit and already authenticated transaction via SCB app. Now tell me account temporarily locked. Called the hotline and not a single option is about unlocking the bank account.

edit: ok unlocked Liao Heng. Quick call back from IT security team to confirm it’s me.

Thwy always give this type of lock account issue, made me hv to go down to counter to solve it 2- times, also wasted my time on the phone due to this

Tats why nowadays I only use them as back up bank , not as if their interest rate is exceptionally fantastic anyway 😑

Probably with the shared responsibility framework in place, the bank started to locked your account or hold your transfer money afraid of the scam. But they have to call us within an hour ..worst for those that need the money urgently
good to implement the hard token back for those that want it.. of cos still cannot deter those that self( account owner) transfer scam but at least prevent those phone hack problems

I talked to one of the DBS scam prevention team( name something liddat) before. saying I am transfer to own account… he told me they afraid That the account was already hold by someone else, so they have to confirm the the transfer is of own will.

I believed that they means the account was “ sold “ to someone else… other people is operating the accounts by shifting money around before moving to oversea account to avoid suspicious .
But ok lah… your own $ , you decide where the best bank for you to put your $ into.
My experience is just with DBS bank .. $ also kenna On hold.. they called to verify and then release the $.

FIDO is the way forward as replacement for physical token.

both account same name doesnt means neither of the accounts are being compromised eg. illegally accessed by someone else.
the recipient account might already being compromised, with external hacked payee registered to do a 3rd quick "money washing" transfer away
And also, in the first place, i dont think banks even check on the recipient account's name (the name u saved in account payee is just a reference name on your side, not the name registered on the external bank)
Even if same name, there's also chance of it being another person name.

D anyone received an email from scb with the following?

Dear Valued Client,

To extend our appreciation for your support, you are automatically qualified to earn step-up interest of up to 2.90% p.a. from Ja‌nuary 20‌25 to Ma‌rch 20‌25, on your e$aver account balance (capped at S$5 mil), account number ending with xxxx

Slightly better rates than marathon but automatically without the need to register. However, I was looking at the tnc of this and I cannot find the reference month for the ADB or did I miss it out from the tnc?

No reference month, meaning everything in your account is eligble for the promo interest
