Had a call with one of the SCB staff. They shared the following.

End of month
You will get 2 interests
1) prevailing interest - 0.1% - 0.25%
2) incremental bal. for jun (last working day of the month) current month adb vs previous month - promo interest or 1.55% whichever higher.

Around 20th of next mth
You will get 1 interest
3) exclusive bonus - promo interest or 1.55% whichever higher.

I already got the prevailing interest on end of the month in june.
My ADB is lower than last mth ADB so i get $0.

Will confirm when i get the exclusive bonus interest around 20th this month.

so is it confirmed that we can get 3 interests if I had just transferred on 1 August into the eligible account?
31 Aug - basic interest (0.1%)
31 Aug - bonus interest on incremental ADB from July (1.75%)
by 20 Sep - exclusive bonus on entire ADB for August (1.75% based on current promotion rate)

it sounds incredible, too incredible actually..

Are u invited for the exclusive bonus interest?
If yes. Let's say your Jul ADB is $10k. Aug ADB is $40k
Then 31 Aug get 0.1% for $40k
31 Aug get 1.75% for $30k
By 20 Sep get exclusive bonus 1.75% for ($40k - $30k) = $10k.
Not the entire ADB for Aug so good lah.

If both Jul & Aug ADB is $40k.
Then 31 Aug get 0.1% for $40k.
No bonus interest as no increase of fresh fund compare to Jul.
Wait till by 20 Sep, get 1.75% for $40k.

yup i'm invited to the exclusive bonus interest.

ah, so the exclusive bonus is only for the balance in July? I tot I read it that it is for the entire account balance... the ADB of the month.

Not Jul.
If Jul ADB is more than Aug. Aug ADB is $40k.
By 20-Sep, only get 1.75% of the whole Aug ADB ( $40k). Would not get double bonus interest. Bonus int plus exclusive bonus total for Aug ADB.

thanks for explaining! I think I get it now.

pls check if my understanding is correct:
let's say my July ABD is 10k, and Aug ABD is 40k and I keep it the same every subsequent month at 40k until May 2020, I will get:
31 Aug - 0.1% of 40k
31 Aug - 1.75% of 30k
20 Sep - 1.75% of 10k
30 Sep - 0.1% of 40k
20 Oct - 1.75% of 40k
31 Oct - 0.1% of 40k
20 Nov - 1.75% of 40k

and so on.

like that is it?

it seems better to do merry-go-round instead as the bonus interest (1.75%, assuming the same for all the months) will come in on last day of every month instead of by 20th of following month. am I right?

Yes. Must keep 3 mths fr month of opening. So it is better to open last few days of Aug to minimise lock up period. If u need referral i can be one.

Sorry to hijack but only found this Stan chart thread.
just set up priority account with scb and need to do the financial needs analysis.

Seems like the RM not very responsive, which I can understand if I’m not ‘useful’ to them.

Can I go to any scb branch and ask to do FNA?

The double esaver trick is over. You can't open 2 accounts in 1 name anymore.

Trading account is moneyless. Even if u have money in settlement acct or another saving acct, the fall below fee of esaver can only be deducted from its own acct.
