I think nowadays some households do away with the home broadband subscription, especially those that have high data quota for mobile, like 50gb or more.

If that's the case, such usage will cause throttling to happen very quickly.
Same thing for home broadband except higher threshold before throttling begins.

For this giga sim, i'm paying the basic 10$ for 6GB, i didn't even hit exceed 2GB per month. If we paid for the amount of data, i dun see the reason why ISP need throttle before user exceed the usage.

Lucky i also subscribed Grid mobile old plan $17.90-30GB , the connection is rock stable, Singtel infra is really no horse run, i never experience throttling so far.

Sure ppl will ask why i still need to use giga when i have grid, my IT work requires me travel around SG. Not all place have good signal for giga (SH) or grid (ST). When i back home Giga, gave me full bar, tethering speed test easily reach avg 85dn/30up , whereas grid signal only gave me 2 bar with speed of 15dn/5up.

I see. I don't WFH so i can't really comment on my Giga connection as my personal usage is not high.

There are telcos that do throttling on a daily limit basis rather than monthly. I.e. throttling begins, for example, >2GB for the day.

Maybe other Giga users can chime in with their personal experience.

If I'm not wrong, throttling on Giga hits when it's 6GB-10GB in a single day.
But of course, if you hit your data limit, the hard cap will apply and your data will be cut for the remainder of the bill period.

What's the point of having Giga on full bars and high speed tests and then complain about frequent drop-off.

One can port out of Grid and back in again on the $17.90 / 50GB plan, then only need one plan. ST network may not offer the best coverage in some places but I believed one can be assured of coverage in 99% of locations and no dropped-off.

Do anyone have issue when like taking train and the phone when reach each train station connect to wireless@sg. So it will be continuously, connect and disconnect. Then after sometime, the mobile data even though is showing 4G, is actually offline.
It didnt happen when using MR.

It's like when you reach home and your phone connects to your wifi automatically.
The auto connection to wireless@sgx is not an issue if you have a wireless@sgx profile in your wifi settings.

It disconnects once you leave the station because out of range of signal. It will re-connects when you reach another station with wireless@sgx signal.

Sorry, not saying the issue on wireless@sg..is seem like the frequent connect and disconnect of wifi somehow making the phone not connected to 4G when it is not in any wifi range, even though mobile data is on and is displaying 4G.

I have to restart my phone, to have the mobile data back.
Nvm suspect could be due to GalaxyS21 Ultra issue. Did some research, can do some workaround.

If you are not using it, why not forget/remove wireless@sg from your connected networks ?

I have used wireless@sgx on both s9 & s10e before , it always goes back to my mobile network automatically once out of range.

U might want to disable Wifi when u are outside so that u avoid this connect/disconnect issue.

Turn back Wifi if u want to use Wifi and your location is fixed, ie not moving.

when I hang around at my void deck I will get super unreliable data network cos it will try to switch to my home wifi which is super weak, and disconnect etc..

also have to turn off wifi in such case.

if there's any issue, more like a phone issue then network issue.

Mobile data connection keeps dropping while phone still displaying 4G. Had to switch on/off flight mode to refresh the connection everytime its so frustrating. Considering switching to other providers..

Too bad it's not working out for you.
Giga has been fairly reliable for me except for known blindspots.
