My Xiaomi Mi 11 lite 5G is listed as compatible but status shows 4G+ and not 5G. The settings is different from described in FAQ.

Xiaomi Phones:
1. Go to “Settings”
2. Select “SIM cards & mobile networks”
3. Go to “Advanced settings”
4. Under “Select 5G network mode”, select “NSA”

My Advanced settings don't have number 4 above.

But if I go to setting for the Giga SIM card - - > Preferred network type is already set automatically to "Prefer 5G".

I suppose need to leave the house. Just like volte setting was done but did not show up on status till I leave my house 2 days after setting is switched on.

Any other bros can update their Giga 5G speed how much improvement seen?

As for the list of mobile devices, I suspect is just a general guide. But then again, its quite suay if buy a new phone for this intention, but then after buy liao realise cant use 5G on Giga. Will be quite sian,.. Getting a 5G phone use on 4G network is as good as using a 4G phone right?
Thing is, is there a phone you have in mind that sells in 4g-only & 5g variants ?
If there is only 1 variant ( 5g ) , nothing to think to think about.

As for compatiblity, only certain way is to follow FAQ list. Telco will just give you the usual BS about working with manufacturers to improve support for more handsets in future blah blah.

Just curious. Those not holding the compatible phones, are you able to add on the 5G pack ? Wonder if Giga check for phone model at the point of adding.

During the process, the app will ask you to click 2 checkboxes.
1) my device is 5g compatible ( see list of devices )
2) 5g network cover my area ( see 5g map )

So if you blindly click and do not fufil the requirements, add the pack at your own risk loh
Don't expect them to refund you. ;)

My estate is listed in the Giga FAQ. Maybe my house cannot receive. Next time go to those shopping malls listed to try eg Tampines Mall, Plaza Singapura, Harbourfront.

Yah... now trial period, no need refund.
But in future, sure got smart aleck try and fail, then complain on social media afterwards.

I won't even bother with 5G until the coverage is as good at 4G right now.
Besides, 4G is plenty fast right now

After reading Giga FAQ the 5G is NSA so no point waste time testing.

To me NSA is like 4G network and appear 5G on you phone. most of the time the speed is around 4G LOL

My suspect is there will confirm be many phones wont appear on the list, though it can support their 5G. Too many brands and models which is impossible for them to test one by one. I remember that time when TPG just started and I was using Redmi Note4. TPG didnt list the phone, but it works well too.

But having said that, for me i can only visualise 5G being faster speed and at very limited locations. So its likely not applicable to me yet. Still camping for a budget phone as good and as cheap as F1... haha :p

for me I am getting 5G display (connect) but 4G speed (5G NSA ma)

5G non-standalone (NSA) reuses existing 4G facilities for certain aspects of communicating with mobile devices

F3 is the most bang for buck right now.
But I won't buy personally due to MIUI.

First test : Download Mbps is 187, Upload Mbps is 47.8.

2nd test at same location : Download Mbps is 197, Upload Mbps is 4.89.

3rd test at same location : Download Mbps is 215, Upload Mbps is 21.4.

My phone status bar shows 4G+ and not 5G.

Not IT savvy. Is this 4G speed ?

So I enabled 5G NSA on my Redmagic 6 and speed tested it at Jurong Point. Rather disappointing speeds of 25Mbps up/down.

so 5G speed for now is nothing to shout about, since 5G NSA is also tapping on 4G networks. Wait for 5G SA or even mmwave to be more prevalent, then it makes more sense to switch over to 5G. If the providers provide free 5G, then take, else, I dun see the need to pay extra for 5G NSA for now.
