OTP can but iMessage works like Whatsapp, no data no service. You don't receive OTP via iMessage, you get it via SMS so that works without a data pack.

You need an internet connection to receive iMessage and FaceTime abroad. Just any connection regardless data or WiFi will do.

You also have Starhub prepaid ?How is the signal of that compared to Giga now ? Are you getting 4G or 4G+ on your phone ? I assume you entered the correct APN ?

Starhub prepaid signal mostly at 5 bars sometimes 4 but no issue getting 4G+ but its for work and don't really need it now so i turned it off. Managed to get 2 bars more often for giga after toggling off but still mostly 1 bar and H+ :s11: And yeah, correct APN

For your reference, I live in near Woodlands MRT station, can get full bars. 4G when inside house and 4G+ when i step outside. Your mileage may vary though.

Ahh, well I live in Jurong area :s22: Decided to drop them a message, hopefully it goes well haha.

It's time to switch out again, ported to giga, and used for 30days and ported out to MyRepublic. Didn't even last a month with giga. You can give MyRepublic a try, $10/per month only

Oh, i'm also on $10/month for giga so i'll try that if the problem persists!:s13:

Most probably it's StarHub issue in your area since you mentioned previously Singtel you don't have this issue. If problem persists, best to port out for better experience.

What u talking?

Prorated mean if u use 3 days it will charge you 3 days.

If it do not prorate, just cancel the line end to the month. In your case, you cancled on the last day.

This may not be the month, but more like your billing cycle

Not true. Giga charges me on a monthly or 30 days basis. I started on 9th April and ending my subscription on 8th May 2pm plus

That's very odd considering both the prepaid and giga are both on starhub network. See how it goes with the support. Good thing about most no Sim plans is that there is no contract.

Maybe you do not know what you are talking.

If you start Giga service on the 15th of the month, it should end by the 14th of the following month, not the end of the month. It will not follow 1st to the end of the month per bill, but depending on when you start it service.

If today the person want to port over to Grid Mobile, if today is the renewal date for $10/25/45, then he will pay $10/25/45 for nothing.

Giga and MyRepublic billing is based on the date you start the service for either a month or 30 days. CMLink is pro-rated for the first month and billing starts every 1st day of the month

I have all 3 services recently (started 1 month back) so I know what I am talking.

I am keen to learn. What does it means by: "If today the person want to port over to Grid Mobile, if today is the renewal date for $10/25/45, then he will pay $10/25/45 for nothing." As you mentioned that "If you start Giga service on the 15th of the month, it should end by the 14th of the following month, not the end of the month. It will not follow 1st to the end of the month per bill, but depending on when you start it service." I really don't visualize how these two things work? Could you elaborate with an example. TIA

That’s depends on which telco you subscribed with. Some start on the 1st of the month while some start on the time u sign up.

Perhaps you may like to give some examples. I really don't get why pay for nothing if that is the renewal date

Example 1:

Giga (charge as sign up date)
Sign up date: 25 April
Port out by: 24 May
Chargers as follow
25 April to 24 May (1month)

Example 2:

Vivifi (charge on the first of every month)
Sign up date: 25 April
Port out by 31 May
Chargers as follow
25april to 30april
1st May to 31 May

In Simple terms, they will not do a refund when they charged you for the current month.

for example 1, signed on 25 April, port out from Giga on 24 May. So this is within the billing cycle 25 April to 24 May. This is reasonable.

As for example 2, how Vivifi will charge for the first period of 25 April to 30 April? Are they charge for a full period of April plan price? or pro-rated it? As for period of 1st May to 31st May, this is within the billing cycle, It is reasonable.

Vivifi, China mobile (cmlink)
Prorated: 25 to 30 April is considered as (month 0)
Then following by 1 month charge.
