I can't confirm as I have not tested this myself, but as far as I'm aware, there is no SMS or calling service when overseas, for both incoming and outgoing.

The only option when overseas is data roaming when you purchase the data roaming bundles.

Having read the GIGA website FAQ, my understanding is you can receive SMS but just wish someone can confirmed that they have physically received before.

Oh, I just read the latest Giga FAQ, it does seem like they now support incoming SMS when overseas.

Yes incoming sms confirm can receive overseas.

You can simply try by triggering incoming SMS from the bank OTP.

But Giga cannot call or sms while roaming. This is a bummer.

If anything urgent, cannot call.

1) Yes, I can do that IF I am a GIGA user but I am not.

2) Yes, guess I can trigger an incoming SMS from the Bank AFTER signing on to GIGA and then AFTER going to Malaysia or Batam.

On Giga while overseas recently. yes, can receive SMS, but cannot send SMS and make/receive calls. SMS does not use data.

I’d like to know too. I have signed up a Gigi line for a family member who is going away for 4 months. To receive sms like OTP, does she need to get the gigaroam? If so, I can’t imagine having to get it as and when she needs to login to the banking app.

No need gigaroam to receive sms overseas.

Gigaroam is data only. Someone else posted in the other giga thread that incoming sms otp worked for them while oversees.

That’s what I always think so too But someone posted in the other thread that roaming is needed, so it got me confused.

it would be good to have roaming to at least be able to receive SMS, that's it. for making calls and using cellular data I just make use of a local SIM.

Roaming is needed cos no network oversees mean no calls or sms. But not related to gigaroam which is for data only.
