yeah somehow I got that impression that I have to stay on for 12 mths. I couldn't find the information in the app so I was a bit perplexed. Anyway when I signed up for it I was happy with paying $7 per month, till the 'end of subscription/contract' (even if there is really a contract). Happy to know that I can port out to another operator whenever I want.

Most (all?) MVNOs only offer non-contract plans. That's the trend nowadays. More and more people are realizing that it doesn't make sense to sign contracts when prices keep dropping every few months.

Eventually very few people will buy phones and sign two year plans.

so far how is giga 4G connection?

GiGA is on starhub network.

Speed performance is the same as starhub user. still each network has their own weak spot in sg. So you can check with your friend or office co-worker is they have any network issue in office/sch on starhub.

Hi hi, thanks for taking the first step to ditch your ex and join the giga experience.

Your request to move 9xxxxxx over to giga will be processed within the next working day.

We'll notify you once all has been completed. Viva la giga!

Received this email around 3PM today...

Signed for my mum, today morning got the SIM card. Received email and sms in the evening on the temporary giga number stating porting of existing number from MyRepublic fail because the registered number and NRIC is different. :s22: Both is using my mum NRIC to sign up.

I tried in giga app and request porting again and also file a case to My Republic app stating fail to port out from MR to giga. First time port number fail. LOL.

giga email in the evening:
Hi hi, seems like your ex is clingy.

Your request to move 9xxxxxxx over to giga was unsuccessful. Most times it's because your original line and giga line are registered under different names or ID numbers.

If that's not the case, do check in with your original telco to find out why.

Meanwhile, your giga line remains active so you can stay connected.

Saw on giga website FAQs

Will I encounter any service disruption when my number is being ported over to giga network?

The port in process is scheduled between 10pm and 2am daily except for Sundays and public holidays to minimize even the slightest service disruption that may happen.

not from 10pm to 2am.

it is from 11pm to 2am instead. this is the official timing for porting. confirmed it is not 10pm.

normally 11:10pm+- line no more on old telco. 12:15am+- new telco has line.

Ok noted. will wait to see the status..by the way, do I still need to change APN manually? I thought it was Auto setting like singtel sim? when I inserted SingTel SIM, i didn't set anything under iPhone APN..it auto set by itself...
Giga also same?

Number porting has got nothing to do with phone APN, which is used for internet access. Number porting is just being done to bind the number to your new service provider so that your phone can ring with the new sim card.

What I mean to say is, the moment u already activate your giga sim card (and set APN, if applicable), u dun have to set it anymore.

Assuming after the rollover of data from the previous month. Is 12gb of data the most you can have, at any point in time, for the $10 plan?

At most 12GB. 6GB from your current month and at most 6GB from your previous 2 months.

Seems like they giga! re-enabled their code referral, at an exclusive rates. If anyone needs the $25 plan for just $10 (ie $5 more than their standard promo), can drop me a pm. :s12:
