The activation is instant upon inserting sim card and with wifi on

Porting over will be take place at night of the day of request

Getting my sim soon, I'm porting over at a later date.

1. Is the activation instant?
Possible to activate without inserting sim card?
Is there an optimal day and time to activate?

2. How long does it take to port over from Starhub?
Is there an optimal day and time to port over?

Thanks

So i am getting the sim card delivered this 31st Aug.
I will pop in my giga sim card on the 1st Sep after midnight (so will start the billing on the first of every month)
The porting will take place on the night of 1st sep or I thought it will just normally takes 2 hours

Anyone having GPS issues at West area after switching to Giga? Location not moving using Google Map or Waze. Need to restart my phone and on/off airplane mode couple of times.

GPS issues should be the phone instead of data connection.

There's also a thing called AGPS which uses cellular network towers to assist to determine the nearest location, in this case the network connection will still help right?

eg. Singtel vs TPG, does Singtel netowrk helps in getting the location faster since their network obviously is better than TPG?

yeah, i know about the presence of A-GPS, heard it about a decade ago, not sure if current generation phones still uses agps or fully on GPS, GLONASS, BDS and GALILEO.

while giga currently unable to do a ownership transfer which I feel is real bad, but it allows different line to pay by different credit card ... well, at least that address the more "critical" $ issue. Just have to share a common login of its app among the users of those numbers under the same name.

I got a new Xiaomi Note 9s recently, 2020 model, it comes with AGPS too. I'm using TPG with it, noticed that it's capturing my location much slower than my 2-years old Samsung Note 8 which is using M1 network. Not sure if it's due to the network capturing or because it's a lower-end budget phone :s13:

Cannot be leh, I'm also using Galaxy Note8 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, all 3 including Note9s comes with A-GPS. My GPS takes quite fast to locate me and i'm using M1 on both devices.

Take a look at the 3 side by side comparisons
https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10147&idPhone2=10055&idPhone3=8505

perhaps it's TPG AGPS that is taking slower?

My Xiaomi Note 9S is using TPG, that's why I mentioned wondering if it's the network. My older Samsung Note 8 on M1 in fact quite fast to capture once out of covered carpark. My Xiaomi Note 9S sometimes will need to come out main road then can get. Once i get this Giga, will put in my Xiaomi and see any difference since starhub network should be better
