Seems like a mixed bag for SH fiber
Some people are getting nice results and others have really slow connections.
Weird.
I think should be due to the wifi density of the area and location of router and housing types.

always try the most basic wired setup first. don't understand y ppl don't do dat. after trying the basic, dan work step by step to wireless setup.

wired, me get 100%. wireless at least 35-40% drop in speedtest. bad quality ethernet cables also see the same % drop as wireless. was able to identity bad cables thru basic step by step method.

hi all, i will be switching to fibre 150mbps on the 21st March. Thing is, since im using Asus RT56U now, can i call SH CSO and tell them in advance that i wan direct ONT?

Another issue is, i will be using a home phone line, if this is the case, can i still go for direct ONT? or do i need to connect my asus to the router(huawei?) provided by SH?

And any chance that i can forgo the SH router totally, only using my RT56U, and still can have home phone line?

P.S. Direct ONT must give CSO a call? Or can i tell the technician on installation day itself?

Thanks!!

wats digital voice? is it the same as home phone line..?

sometimes quite hard to give advice when info is scarce or unclear. :s22:

if yr current telephone land line is plugged directly to a telephone wall socket, juz ignore wat's next.

if yr current telephone land line is plugged to your cable modem, then u hv a problem requesting for direct ont connection. again, all answers r in the last two pages in this thread.

which wireless card are you using?

are you connected on 300Mbps/WPA2-PSK/AES/40MHz?

2.4 or 5GHz?

Card is Intel centrino wireless N220. I'm on 2.4ghz. Channel width is 20mhz. I hope this is what you are referring to.

Thanks!

I'm using it because of stock DD-WRT software. Or you have any router to recommend for DD-WRT?

game for apple router?

me choose the brand because it's easier to setup and quite stable.

no offense, buy apple are usually rich and love to waste $ kind of people. Totally overpriced. of coz, those group of people "thought" they know alot about IT.

for the same price you will get something even better out there.

there are reasons why gurus rarely buy apples because they did their homework.

20 MHz is max. :(

And I just bought the router. Haiz. No worries, will upgrade next year or so. I bought it because Buffalo offers proprietary DD-WRT software which is easy to install.
