20 MHz is max. :(

And I just bought the router. Haiz. No worries, will upgrade next year or so. I bought it because Buffalo offers proprietary DD-WRT software which is easy to install.

your router no 40MHz?

I only know your buffalo got issue with 40MHz.

no offense, buy apple are usually rich and love to waste $ kind of people. Totally overpriced. of coz, those group of people "thought" they know alot about IT.

for the same price you will get something even better out there.

there are reasons why gurus rarely buy apples because they did their homework.

none taken since me no guru or no rich. juz dat hv been using wireless networking since 1999 when apple introduced airport the first consumer wireless router. dan came other brands along the years. tried two brands but switched back to airport because more familiar with it. sure there r better and cheaper brands now but current setup still working fine.

inputting as a consumer, if someone here doesn't want the hassle, one may wanna consider airport wireless router.

and me know some networking gurus do use airport after intensive homework. no, they r not snobs either.

these days, any reputable router will come together with a wizard for installation similar to apple. If you are on Fibre (as this thread), everything is just plug and play coz the initial default setup is definitely "WAN DHCP".

besides, the apple router is all gimmick, last i remembered, it doesn't even have a web gui relying solely on the Airport Utility!

then i bet those "gurus" are not so gurus afterall :p

personally for me (me only lah, can't say for others), me don't like web gui setup for any hardware, not juz networking products. since me mac user, installation the airport utility is a non issue.

aiyo, u hv yr very own view. :s22:

Apple users forever got their own reasons which for 1, i never agree to it :) pardon me :o

hope i am not making you upset over your trusted brand. I, just prefer to assist people to have a clear understanding on where to spend $ wisely. Ultimately is the person's decision, not mine.

i don't come from a wealthy family so every cents count imo. :)
oh btw, i am no networking guru either :p

they didn't, neither other companies. Just that your bias-ness clouded your judgement imo.

most routers required the same manner to configure it. If you know 1, chances are, you will easily know the rest :)

Hi Guys, I am on a Starhub 300 Mbps fiber plan and i went to speedtest.net and it is showing me only upto 100M. I am getting about 11.741Mb/sec connection with Speedtest using wired connection, which I think is weird.

I am also using cat 5e, which can supports upto 1000Mbps connection.

1. what router?
2. what nic card?
3. are you connected with 1Gbps or 100Mbps in your network interface on your machine?

using cat5e does not mean 1Gbps if is no for any of the above.

1. Using the default router given by starhub with their fiber optics. HG256

2. Using Asus sabertooth 990fx mother board. The Nic card is already with the mother board. Under my Device Manager/Network Adapeter, it is showing as Realtek pci e GBE Family Controller.

3. Not sure what you exactly mean. But, I right click my Local Area connection status and it is showing as Speed: 1.0 Gbps.

Thanks for the help..

I think the Huawei HG256 cannot support more than 100Mbps. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
