Thanks will try this later and see if it improves. Btw why does this ipv6 slow things down? I'm a complete noob when it comes to networking stuff.

Imo is the bad design of the firmware the cause of it.

I will not go into detail why is it

Ok must be very chim :s22:

Anyway i have disabled the ipv6 and seems like the pages are loading quicker, so all good and a happy user here.

Another funny thing about starhub. I subscribed to the 200mbps fiber and the starhub guy that came down showed me his speedtest to confirm that i'm on the correct speed (200mbps). After he left, i did my own speedtest and found that all results were between 80-90mbps. I then called starhub and was told i'm actually on a temporary 100mbps line as the installation process isn't complete yet. What the heck then how did their guy get the 200mbps result from the same line? Must be some kinda of voodoo.

1. I assume you are testing it with a cat5e cable and on a gigabit machine?

2. Use StarHub utilities to try it

Look at my post above..... frustrating..... but at long last, the internet is up... that is after I call and checked.... the promise to call me when it is up never happen.....

Call 1630 and talk to their sales team rather than 1633 technical team.....

I spoke to almost 6 technical staff and nothing done.....call the sales today and bark and the internet is up..... strange culture they have there....

I just grew frustrated with my router and plugged it out and installed the new one

surprisingly it works. and the thing is they didn't even know at their end if the server had issue and insisted for me to wait

Here's the new speed of my DIR-850L, wireless AC

once the direct ont is activated, the router provided by starhub will not longer work with starhub, once is down after a few mins you should have started using your own router already

Under WAN - Port Forwarding and key in the port..
Then create a DynDNS account and go to DDNS tab to setup.

That is all...

Okay I have checked with SH. They allow me to upgrade but installation charges/activation charges must pay (about $80+) . Their installation means just installing the ONT?

Just to check, I am not purchasing the router from SH, but most prob gonna get an ASUS router.
So I can just plug in the ASUS router to the ONT and it will work, am I right? For DV, I can use back my old VeCM right?

Edit: One more question, I can continue to use my WRT160N? Or should I get the ASUS router? Most prob the n56u

1. direct ont? if so, yes just plug your ASUS router into the ONT.
2. Yes, DV can use your old VeCM. Do let SH know of you intention.
3. You can use any router but preferably 1 with gigabit connection

I have some question i hope you guys can help me with.

1. do i have to personally call starhub to activate this so called "direct ONT" or i could just plug in my own dlink router?

2. would there be any downtime if i request for this direct ONT?

3. I currently have digital voice using the motorola modem, when my fiber BB comes, will the digital voice be port over or i have to continue to maintain the motorola modem for the digital voice.

1. Yes you must inform them. Else you need manual vlan tagging. Oh you mentioned you are using your own dlink router? If that's the case i dont think it's possible since dlink routers dont support vlan tagging.

2. They mentioned 12am-12pm but it could be somewhere between that range. Not necessarily lose internet at 12am.

3. If you didnt specify direct ont, you will be given the rg. Your dv will be ported to that rg. If you opted for direct ont, no rg will be given and your dv will remain at your vecm.
