Try RT-N66U. The cost of ac routers still can't be justified at this moment.

My brother who signed up 200 mbps fibre plan is using DL865 router provided by starhub. We were told that the ONT only allow this router to be used and if we want to use other router like asus. We need to inform opennet to reconfigure the backend which take a few days in order to use our own preferred router..but u sound like we can switch router easily as we like and so is the cso ********ing?

I think the CSO was referring to the old script for the DVG-5402SP, because the 865L is not affected by reconfiguration as it should be already on Direct ONT. Thus you should be able to switch routers easily.

Ok. That good to hear. I also find the reply from the staff questionable. Especially the fibre sign up was done at imm starhub shop and as the staff gave me wrong info.

The 865 router only comes with 1 year warranty which I feel it is very short. My m1 router from asus give 3 years warranty

Are you sure? I was told the 865 comes with a FIVE year warranty.

Varun, it might be due to this. (in bold)

I checked. She's wrong. It's 5 years. :)

There'll probably be some new kick-ass technology in 3 years that we'll all want to switch to anyway... but at least now there's peace of mind that the router's covered for 5 years.

Yes. The cso at starhub imm told me one year. But she could be wrong as she said router change must informed opennet.. damm jialet

Hi There, thanks for responding.

There are two people using the 5ghz band and two people using the 2.4ghz band (including me)

No wireless adaptor used, just connecting straight from my MacBook Pro.

Any suggested workaround for this problem? Connection seems abit erratic too. :(

Should I consult Starhub or something ? Thanks guys.

Anybody can propose any solutions for me? :( Not sure if changing the router to asus or purchasing an extender can help.

Hey guys I'm currently running starhub fibre on DVG-N5402SP.

capturerag.jpg

The range sucks and I can't even receive any signal in one of my room and toilet.

Thinking of getting asus RT-N66U at sitex. Is it easy to set up plug and play style, or like some say must call starhub and wait for days?

i think you should try and change it to the dir-865l. just complain to starhub and bug the hell out of them. sometimes, without exercising your consumer rights, they will never provide any service which can be called "decent" at best.

I've talked to their fake ang mo slangish pinoy cso before regarding my poor fibre speed, vomited a lot of blood before things got done. Now I rather spend some money than to shorten my lifespan talking to those pinoys again.

Hi all, I am very confused now about the SH fibre connection.
Just a few days ago, my browsing and page loading of some websites was slow (via notebook through wifi), and I tested the speed on speedtest.net and it was only 2-3Mbps only and only less than 10Mbps through wired direct connect to my notebook. So I called up SH and they agreed to arrange their technician to come down and take a look. Just yesterday, I tried again myself and it is better but only maybe 10-20Mbps (wifi also).

Toady, the technician came down, tested the speed on speedtest.net, he got around 40-50Mbps on his laptop (via wifi), and nearly 90-100Mbps (via direct lan). Then I tried on my notebook, and I dunno why the speedtest.net page takes so long to load, and takes a longtime to finish the test. Last time it was not like that. And the adobe flash plugin keeps crashing on firefox, is this the issue? But the same page also loads very slow on chrome and IE too. But it works out fine on the technician laptop. Something wrong with my notebook? And finally when the test finished after sometime on my notebook, the speed only 30-40Mbps (wifi) and 50-60Mbps (direct lan). Anyone know why can what causes this issue?
Because my notebook is quite new also, only bought last year. Model is ASUS UX31E ultrabook i7 CPU@1.8Ghz 4Gb ram.

Whether I load the speedtest.net site on firefox or IE or chrome, it always load so slow. But it loads very fast on the technician laptop.. Why? Anyone can advise?
My browsers are all updated, to latest version. And I also scan my anti-virus software, and everything ok. Or do I clean to clean up my system, using like all those registry cleaner tool?

Anyone got any idea why my notebook facing this sort of issue? Any help or advise?

BTW my router is ASUS RTN56U, new one, and technician also tested no issue with router.
