That's strange, unless yours is a diff model cos my box printed HG8240 GPON Terminal, it has 2 tel sockets beside the 4 lan ports.

So now SH finally install HG8240, same as that of M1 :

This is SH's ONT HG8240

Same as M1 but with NC logo similar to HG863. I wouldn't be surprise that SH had the firmware customize to suit their needs.

Are you able to access the ONT webUI (hint: telecomadmin/admintelecom)?

with this model means can connect phone direct to it? For digital voice?

Yes, I just have to connect my phone to it's tel pt for free digital voice with SH. I had been doing same thing previously with SH's motorola modem.

Since the TEL1 light is on meant that voice service is active. Look like SH had finally learn the lesson by switching to this box.

Connect a PC to port1 on ONT, set IP address to 192.168.100.2 and access the webUI at 192.168.100.1 (enter the user/pw given earlier).

The current firmware for M1 ONT is V1R003C00S105.

Can you still access Internet on the cable? If yes, there is no reason to switch to HG8240 since you'll be getting 2 broadband for the same price.

CSO staff just CMI, can you imagine that they can't even tell the different btw HG863 and HG8240, insisting that the latter need to connect to the former when I switched over to M1.

Please test it with a wired connection to determine actual throughput instead.
