ooo, thanks.

fanboy just because i spoke facts. weird.

some people are just plain ridiculous.

I'm so sorry for calling someone who defends SH to the end even after I explained my situation a FanBoy. Maybe I got the meaning of fanboy wrong.

I apologise.

But you still haven't "enlighten" me with your massive wisdom on how you'd test throttling speed since you critised mine.

im quite happy with my torrenting on SH fibre..

can hit up to 5mBps(40mbps) average speed on a single torrent.

this is via wifi with the router 1 floor below.

never had the chance to test direct connection.

yup fibre is a very good improvement over cable. that's why I don't understand why people will want to keep cable for "stability's sake"

Sounds to me that what he's saying (and Nichi's also saying) is that he is not being throttled. In his view, there's no evidence of throttling. Nichi's 40mbps on BT sounds very good too...

Yup, in his view because it didn't happen to him. So if Singapore doesn't have earthquakes, earthquakes are not real in this world?

Basically, I did some tests, noted them down, got to SH at the higher levels and they admitted that they throttled my speeds so that it's "fairer" for those people in the same area. This was back in the cable days (I was on 100mbps cable).

After shifting to fibre, the speeds are normal (very fast if compared to cable) but still slower than myRebpulic/VQ's 100mbps plan speeds on torrent. I'm ok with the fibre speed tho. there seems to be connectivity issues from time to time but still bearable. still wouldn't recommend SH to anyone...

on a side note, i can get total 13MBps speeds on torrent (download) and 10MBps for upload from time to time...

is your router the 1 restarting? Nothing got to do with Starhub in this case.

check your firmware, power adapter and etc. upgrade them/rma if necessary.

as mentioned earlier, you are just being plain ridiculous. which clearly you are.

so can i say that just because you felt earthquakes, you assume that the entire world is shaking? ridiculous isn't it?

Read what you are typing. Attitude is what matters.

i see no reason to "enlighten" a person who only thinks that he is right and nothing else even when he is already wrong. You will not believe even if i told you so anyway.

Added into ignore list.

Guys. In the end it's all about ratios. Unless you purposely get two guys to download the same torrent at the same timing. Otherwise, nobody can claim that their experience is throttled or not throttled.

erm, that's what I did. but apparently some people think that SH is almighty and my results are just a delusion. and so are my conversations with SH. lol. :s13::s13:

I experienced very slow torrenting speeds when I was still on MOL Express, but I brushed it off as a side-effect of me being on a very cheapo cable plan to begin with.

So your torrenting experience is good now? Just asking... if so, it would seem Tanaka's in the minority. Wondering whether she (he?) misunderstood the CSO or whether the CSO basically provided her (him?) with incorrect information (which does happen...).

On the current topic of throttling, Starhub used to have a page describing their "traffic-shaping" practices across all their services. However, that page has been renamed to "Network Management - Mobile" which implies that traffic shaping is now limited to the mobile Internet domain.

They have one for broadband too :
Network Management

Code:
Network management is only implemented during peak
surfing hours (from 6pm to 2am on weekdays and 11am
to 2am on weekends).

According to the link, shaping doesn't target a particular user. Yet, Tanaka claims s/he was specifically targeted. Hmmm.... probably a CSO error there, Tanaka.

don't know and doesn't bother me whether they throttle or not. It's all for the greater good :).

just putting the details here so people know what exactly is going on. ;)

shaping does not equate to unable to download, unable to surf properly or even slow download speeds.

some people just dont understand.

A Starhub hater will naturally consider even neutral observers as "fanboys" as they do not share his tainted views. You have been helpful here, but do you still remember your replies to people who were trying to help you out with your VoIP problems when you first participated in this thread? I did tell you then that while Gribber does have problems, your replies to everyone else were also unfriendly.

(Starting from this post.)

Disclaimer: my only reason sticking to them since the MOL cable days is the 15% Hub Club discount. I'm still quite miffed at being shafted with the DVG and having to buy my own router.

btw, just to share. As repeated, i am sharing facts about my own experiences.

i am neither affiliated to Starhub in anyway though i would very much be happy to be employed by them as a consultant (with consultant paycheck as well). =:p

calling people fanboys are only for noobs that got zero substance.
