Anyone can advise whether when can I change my old router to a new 868L router given by StarHub? I just Recontract from 100mbps to 500mbps
I don't think they want the old router back.
Call them up and ask them why you didn't get an 868L with your new 500Mbps contract. Sometimes they credit points to your account instead and you can use these points to change for items (router being one of them).

so why people need 1gbps local speed:s11::s11::s11:

I wouldn't say its only for local speed.

Some people do heavy upload and download to peers locally.

Honestly it all boils down to your usage pattern.

For instance i will cont to get 1Gbps from M1 because its only $49 compared to Starhub $49 plan.

Hi guys, may I ask if the router issued by starhub HAS to be the router connected to the ONT? Last time (> 2 yrs ago) it was the case that the issued router was the only router permitted to sit behind the ONT and get an ip address, wld like to know if its still the case now.

Any router issued from D-Link DIR-865L onward will be direct ONT, i.e. you can use your own router if you don't like the issued one.

Confirmed by Starhub "do contact us at http://bit.ly/StarHubQuery for direct ONT request if you are not using 1 of D-Link 865 or D-Link 868L modem currently."

intermittent connections

Hi all,

I just recontract to Homehub 200 and received the new Dlink router. However the internet connection has not been stable.

Previous setup I followed TS' configuration:

TP -> ONT -> D-Link DVG-N5402SP -> EnGenius ESR9850 -> D-Link DHP-306AV Homeplug

New setup:

TP -> ONT -> D-Link DVG-N5402SP -> D-Link DHP-306AV Homeplug

Any suggestion how I can make the connection more stable?

Why are you using the DVG when you have a new router?
Ask for direct ONT and use the new router.
