No freebies... Just discounted monthly rate.
In that case, you may be able to switch over, just talk to them nicely .. better in person.
In person, you can ask to talk to manager who can decide.
They would rather keep you for another 24 months, rather than risking you switch to another vendor ..
My approach would be bringing M1 brochure along and meet up and discuss subscription to fiber .. let them persuade you that Starhub is much better.
At the time when the deal being struck after he/she spend an hour persuading you, mention that you are current on contract with them ... and ask them to let you break the contract ...
is there anyway to run on 5GHZ with the router they provided?

kidnap their CEO maybe can fix it.. ^^
Got use meh, they only know how to squeeze more $$ from subscriber.
I have this problem too! Is that something to do with the new google play store version (3.10.9) not compatible with the DLink VOIP router? I just emailed Starhub to enquire on this. Damn stupid..
StarHub problem again. I tried using different routers and older play store version, still cannot update or download apps for my root/unroot android phones and Nexus 7.

I'm also having the same issue as well. Everything was OK until about 3 weeks back and now I cannot update/install apps from the google play store. The strange thing is that once in a while, it is able to update one/two apps but does not work the rest of the time.
Does anyone have the solution to solve this problem?
I had posted a solution using google public DNS in my first post in internet-bandwidth-networking-clinic under Solved-downloading-problem-google-playstore-starhub-fiber-broadband.

Hello, my dad just re-contracted Maxinfinity, increasing the speed from 100 MBps to 150MBps. After a day, the internet went down. We assumed that they were simply changing the speed. But it went on for the rest of the day. Hence we made a call to them. The network team technician told us that he looked into the problem and guessed that it would take a day or so to fix it.
However, it has been down for about 5 days now. The technician just called to say that they can fix it a while later. But I have lost trust in them to fix even the simplest issue in networking within a home network.
The problem is actually simply giving the HG256S router an address since it can't get the info. The "admin" page shows all 0.0.0.0 for network details. Whenever the technician calls, and I try to explain that giving it an IP add will make progress. They simply tell me BS and that the IP is from the server. Which I think what they meant was a WAN IP.
So I would like to ask if anyone here has the superadmin pw to hg256s for the recent firmware v.27 or if anyone managed to get DHCP running on the ONT? On the ONT, root/admin doesn't work for the browser login. However it works for telnet. I prefer not to meddle with the settings in there since I have lost touch with networking. If some one could guide me on enabling DHCP on the ONT, I would appreciate it.
Oh and I seriously regretted not convincing my dad enough to go with MyRepublic despite what my friends are telling me about VQ/MR vs the major telecom companies.
Thanks for any future help or constructive comments since I may not be free to read them.
-edit-
I do appreciate that the network team gave me 16 MBps cable to use during this downtime. However this doesn't change the fact that the downtime happen promptly after the re-contracting. Oh and those who wanna know, 16 MBps on cable is ridiculously slow. I think that even $2 Days(Optus Australia prepaid plan, I was in Aus for a mth) was faster.

thanks for this. how did you nanage to find the solution? anyway starhub had a maintenance last night and i think they updated their servers as well. now all downloads from playstore are working again.
edit: some downloads are still not working,
In my experience with SH DNS, after resetting my router first download/update was all right then problem started again. Using Google public DNS, however, is as smooth as silk.
