According to the link, shaping doesn't target a particular user. Yet, Tanaka claims s/he was specifically targeted. Hmmm.... probably a CSO error there, Tanaka.

if you read back, the CSO didn't even know what was happening. I don't believe that the technician manager will give off wrong info. basically I went from CSO -> CSO manager - Technician (face to face visit) -> Technician Specialist -> Technician Manager. Tedious process I must say. After they admitted to the throttling, and my request for them to stop or I'll stop paying the bills and demand a contract dissolve, the problem was solved by the next week (after more calls and home visits).

Again, this happened while on cable. I have yet to experience this on fibre. The most obvious issues on fibre is the random slow connection with international servers. sites with servers in SG loaded as per normal, but sites hosted elsewhere loading very slowly.

And here I was, naively surprised that SH did not carry their traffic shaping practices onto fibre... :s13:

with massive bandwidth fibre has, I'd say that the shaping doesn't affect much. "network shaping" was a lot worse in the cable days...

then it's pretty weird that mine isn't working. maybe not all SH customers ipv6 is enabled? i read somewhere that someone had to call them and demand for it =.=

Whenever Opennet does a maintenance, they sometimes mess up the ipv6.

Try this:
1. ipconfig /flushdns (requires admin elevation)
2. Go to dlink admin webpages, release both ipv4 and ipv6. Don't renew.
3. Power off ONT and Dlink router, wait for around 30 mins(Might be shorter, but I assume a TTL of 30 minutes).
4. At this time you should have no networking/internet. In the meanwhile, I'm bored so I CCleaner my Internet explorer and other windows stuff.
5. Power on ONT and router. Wait for a min or so for them to boot up.
6. Test ipv6 with XFINITY Speed Test , Test your IPv6., IPv6 test - IPv6/4 connectivity and speed test , etc...

This fixes my ipv6 connectivity issues. Take note, my ipv6/v4 address did not change after the power off/on, just that now it works so don't ask me why...

Starhub CSO like dumb terminals. Some individuals are worse than others by being rude and impatient.

thanks for the help! my problem solved itself automatically after some time. I'm not sure why and I'm unable to replicate the issue. It just suddenly... worked after a day...

Thanks for sharing, will give this a try if I face problem (touch wood) bringing up IPv6 in future.

i am signing up for 200MBps fibre plan from shub. can anyone suggest whether the router provided by starhub with this (DIR865L) is stable? seems like M1 gives Asus routers which are quite stable

I've been running the 865 (and the 868, Extreme Gen 6, and Netgear R6300 - complex home network) for months now. They've all been stable.

I second that. I'm on 200Mbps & so far 865 no problem.

You won't see any significant difference if you use wired.

However for wifi, at 2.4 Ghz, Asus AC66u perform better than dir865L.

At 5Ghz, (tested with Note 3) both are on par.

Do take note that dir 865L come free but AC66U will cost you at least $250 or more.

I didn't encounter any major problems so far. Encountered a minor issue yesterday, the 2.4GHz wifi suddenly went missing from all users whilst 5GHz wifi remains detectable.

I was able to achieve full bar signal for wifi with a distance of 15m and 2 concrete wall blocking. Pretty good =)

wah! 5GHz your range so good? are you using 865L? honestly, this router is good, but the range is just bad. even the 2.4 GHz rarely survives 2 walls (less than 15m). the 5 GHz one becomes half strength after 1 wall...

Yep using 865L.

I have to shift my laptop abit to get the signal higher.
Full bar was with 2.4GHz. My laptop cant detect 5GHz. My note 2 is connected to the 5GHz band but the signal is not that strong.

then that's to be expected. what more can we ask for a free router...

my 2.4 isn't that strong. barely survives through 2 walls. that's in the toilet where there should be no interference. :s13:

point us to the torrent file so we can see what's wrong?

it may be due to seeders cos right now my torrents are doing extremely well...

Very slow.
Some youtube videos can't even load.

My browsing has crawled. Don't say Facebook. Hwz used to load pretty fast but now, really super slow. I don't know if it's Google dns so I may switch back to starhub default ones to try.

If you want you can pm me on the torrent file and I can do a trial for you at the same time. My average is at least 3-4. Have hit 10 before also.
