When i go to yahoo.com, it now shows me the hong kong version.
Is your IP 101.127.4.x ?

I don't use SH DNS servers becos they are wonky.
Been using Google DNS since cable days.
Try "nslookup your.domain.com 8.8.8.8" and see if it resolves.

I have got so used to their crap now. There was a similar issue one or two months back, the same websites couldn't connect and just timed out. They never seem to fix anything, the problems just come back again and again.

I can't even load Foxsports website now.

I don't know if the issue is limited to only US ips. Changing the DNS doesn't help. They just can't seem to provide a decent service, something always goes wrong somewhere. Few months back, web access was slow and they updated me to say that they were having issues with their china routings. I am not sure what they are going to tell me this time round.

I have sent them the traceroute but honestly i am not expecting them to follow up promptly. The only way that i have found to make them take your case seriously is to make noise here, on facebook or at their forum.

this morn i also sent them my tracert and ipconfig.
i also added in SSH and FTP filezilla unable to connect screenshots.
told them their USB data sim dongle works (in case they want push the blame to my PC or my VPS hosting site)
further more i also have another locally hosted website.
for that, the fiber connection for SSH and FTP works => that is why i thought problem might be limited to certain range of IPs

Their modus operandi is to request for traceroute and then you never hear back from them. It is even more meaningless when you know the issue is at their end and sending these traceroutes are a total waste of time. This issue isn't new. I have experienced 2 similar cases this year. The earlier ones were more serious and affected more websites.

As i am typing this, the problem has gone away. Still i am gonna bet my last dollar that the same issue will resurface somewhere down the road. So in short, we have had technical issues with our internet service for 2 days and zero technical support from Starhub.

hi all, have a question on SH fibre 200mbps (or anyone on this same plan maybe can share feedback)..

i was given the DLINK router, DIR-865L.

first week, the experience was great. the wifi dl speed on speedtest hits more than 150mbps all the time. but after 1 week or so, things changed. wifi speed now drops to 50mbps+, never exceed 60mbps. distance of my laptop away from my router is less than 2m. during this 1 week of great experience, i didnt thought of trying connecting directly on lan though.

so a few days ago, i tried to connect lan, as suggested by some friends to see if any connection issues. on lan cable, connection hits more than 200mbps dl speed on speedtest.

anyone have any idea what could have happened that causes such a drop in the wifi dl speed range?

i do understand that speedtest as a proxy to test is not so accurate, but such figures are surprising to me (as in the drop).

appreciate any feedbacks or tips to improve these, thanks!

Walls and other wireless interferance plays a part. Unless you are directly beside the wireless router is hard to give you gurantee speed. At the same time during that point of time your neighbour may have setup wireless access point as well thus overlapping may also have effect on your wireless frequency thus.

hmm there are no physical blockages between my router to my laptop. so that shouldn't be any issue.

but there's increasing number of wifis available to connect. maybe you are right on the overlapping frequency.

thanks.

No problem to overcome this. If you can't beat them join them! :s13:

alternatively is get a good wireless router like asus ac product line and receiver should be good.

I'm using for my sis in between a wall in both of our room she easily can hit 200mbps

i was told that traffic congestion (ie too many wireless available) doesnt really affect that much, as in drop of 100mbps in dl speed. haha.

oh well, i guess i have to figure out more on this. i'm only afraid that getting a better router also doesnt solve the problem. few hundred bucks leh :s13::s13:

Hi bros,

Do you know whether I can swap my existing black gateway/router with SH Fiber 100Mbps plan to the latest DLink 868L? I don't mind doing an upgrade. The new device is very promising!
