hi bros, facing a bit of an issue with the 868l.

Starhub installed my Homehub 500 on 16 June, with the Dlink DIR 868L. Everything was okay, with some downtime the next two days. But anyway, right now, the huawei nucleus connect seems fine, it's the 868L. Sometimes, the 868L doesn't get connected, even after my modem is on. Basically, the globe light is forever orange. Even after restarting my router/modem (with modem/router still on), sometimes the problem persist. Basically what makes it work is, I switch off all, then I on my modem, and on my router straight after that. If like I on my router first, let it settle down, and then on the modem, globe light will still remain orange. Very puzzling for me cos I always thought the modem/router will try to connect real time, not cannot connect one time, then won't get connected already unless restart something.

I don't experience any intermittent connection after connected whatsoever. Only thing is the Wifi. A little shaky when it's 2 or 1 out of 4bars. Like sometimes there won't be any connection, then suddenly it's fine. Last time on ST, no issue at all with the Aztech modem. Signal in fact also better.

I changed to SH because of the 868L leh...... Anyone experience the same issue, or have any advice/solutions for me?

I was thinking maybe changing the DNS server on both the router and my PC. think that would help?

As I mentioned in the other thread, the best thing is just to leave the ONT and router on all the time. The ones to be turned off are the computers and laptops when they are not in use. :o

okay! i personally prefer to off it every night to kind of let the set cool down. but i guess since on-ing it 24/7 (since it's designed to be like that) wouldnt also absorb lots of electricity.. i'll give it a try.

anyone has been on-ing their router + modem 24/7 without any issues?

Of course no issue lah. First I thought u wanted to turn off the devices to save electricity. This is a legitimate concern, but they really dun take a lot of electricity.

Since your concern is not really the electricity usage, then u can really keep the modem + router 24/7. Also remember that since HomeHub comes with digital voice (home telephone), the modem also provides the digital voice service. So the modem is really ok to be turned on 24/7. Same for the router too. There is really no concern with heat issues.

I second that. 868L is one of the best so far never had any issues.

I had 868L & N66U bridged to AC87U.

IMMO, most of the time the wireless on 868L is more stable than AC87U.

I even bought another DIR-868L to use as a wireless bridge to the main router DIR-868L. :)

I have a 868L in my living hall. A 850L in my room.

Both bands from both routers are good. Of cause, 5.0Ghz band has a much shorter range compared to the 2.4Ghz band.

BTW folks,

For direct wired cable connection to my PC, how come my PC only can detect the 5Ghz band and therefore I can only wired connection to the 5Ghz.

The 2.4Ghz doesn't show up in wired connection list?

I mean, my wired connection shows "XXX-5GHz", so to speak.
