You're right and since the day I switch to Starhub HomeHub 500 I have not experience any major issues. I'm using the Apple TimeCapsule as the main gateway and Apple AirPort Express (wireless bridge) and so far so go and it's rock stable.
Well personally, I like router recommendations people are giving to try solve connectivity issues. To an extent, connection issues may be attributed by poorly configured wifi networks with the fact that there's literally 9001 settings around on their respective gateway pages.
I must say though, there are a fair number of TP link or asus models that support channel bonding work very reliably and are able to deliver full local speeds in optimal conditions together with properly configured network adapters/devices.
They work as well, or almost as well as a complete wired setup.
I'm one that has a network that falls under this category. That said, I will always attempt to gauge LAN vs WAN connection speeds etc while troubleshooting.
That said, this recent outage though, is definitely a starhub issue. The obvious part is, local hogwash speeds are completely achievable, meaning there's no user end bottleneck. However international speeds are just jia lat. US connections, did improve, I admit but are still not at "usual levels". Europe however, is still bad.
DNS issues still happen at different times of the day. Heck, even 480p videos on youtube get occassional buffers...... That said, CSO called again, apologise and acknowledge. But there's no ETA or narrowing down on a proper resolution.
