Hi, I was recently contacted by Starhub to recontract my TV and was told that I’ll need to switch to the TV+ variant as the Fibre TV has been discontinued and would be unable to keep the existing Fibre TV if I wish to recontract. So I recontracted but am awaiting the installation of the TV+ box

So far I have been reading here and found that we would need to use the Nokia Beacon 2 router if we want to continue watching Mediacorp channels on the TV+ box

My question is why can’t we just connect the TV+ to port 2 of the ONT to maintain the Mediacorp channels as per the previous way like the Fibre TV? Thanks

They are using totally different technology with Starhub TV+ box...

yes in the olden day can watch but not now.
I have 2 different brands of these devices - slingbox and monsoon. Both brands have end of life their products and services.

Was pissed with slingbox as they denied responsibilities on their product's premature failure due to bloated capacitors. Whoever posted on how to repair or successfully DIY repaired was banned.

1) try login via QR code and also keying in... didnt work.
2) delete and reinstall the apps on my mobile phone... login and viola all the package are still on my mobile phone
3) logout from my acct in the box and re-login, still tak boleh

Call up starhub, said they had done some reset at their side ... see how it goes tonight,.
Update of my issue.

Apparently the issue was due to whoever was doing the paperwork when I made my purchase...
didn't capture my tv box's ID into the system...

Simply unacceptable....

Hi all, considering to recontract to get the 10Gbps plan (none of the other providers have as decent a free/less expensive Wifi 7 router/AP as SH) as currently I am on Fibre TV with "complimentary" 1 Gbps. Due to the MOCA adapter (current place is a little complicated and needs the adapters so can have TV service for living room and master bedroom on different floors), it has been problematic as this has introduced a lot of potential points of failure in the system, which is bad for illiterate elderly in the house.

I thought changing to the new TV+ Pro box might be better since its now just one device between router(internet) and the TV and I can cut off the MR 1 Gbps plan (which I had signed up for with voice lines before SG forced us to switch to digital TV years ago). But I've done a lot of searching online and it looks pretty horrible compared to staying on the old Fiber TV. Keep note that my parents don't use any streaming services; all they want is the usual local FTA and certain channels like Phoenix TV.

What is the current situation on the reliability of the TV+/Pro boxes nowadays? I've heard about unskippable ads, hanging in the middle of the show, the box regularly crashing. For my parents who will never use the other apps (other than maybe meWatch, but my Samsung TV already has it) and just want to watch old school cable TV, is it stable/reliable/smooth enough that their experience will be basically seamless? It's can be quite a nightmare for me sometimes as I have to go and be IT support for them every time the Fiber TV isn't working (which already happens irregularly), so I'm hoping for it to not get worse at least.

Do not need the box since you have samsung smart TV. You can watch from the TV directly from the TV+ app. The main reason for signing Homehub+ Ultra Speed is to get their TV contents which is good. Especially sports programs and Netflix Premium and Viu Premium etc. Can watch movies and the benefit of using android TV is cheaper price for users. A good example is Premier League.

It is good that Starhub TV+ app now supports Samsung Smart TV (Tizen OS 4.0 or later, 2019 models onwards) along with Android TV OS devices (eg: Sony smart TV, Mi Box S Gen 2, etc).

Yes, support for all sorts of Android TV devices, and Samsung TVs and Smart Monitors, is great particularly given the very low cost of Android TV devices.

One notable drawback is lack of support for Apple TV. This is a bit odd as TV+ apps are supported on Apple ipad os (and may be also on ios).

Yes slow connection during Peak Hours. About 3 - 4Gbps during Peak hours for cable connection. Just to watch their TV contents like football.

That is very unfortunate as I believe their current Samsung TV is from before 2019. Are existing FiberTV users able to access the app? If so, I will still go home to check if they can still download the app an test it out. Once in the app, do my parents just press the number of the channel they wanna watch (i.e 106 for Channel U, 803 for whatever cable channel that is...), just like they would with the Android box?
