You're 17 and you hate being older? Haha, you have a long way to go before using the word "old" man. So you've been lifting for 2 years. That's awesome progress. I guess the youth and testosterones really help. Your deadlift isn't bad for your weight man...you're way up there if you look at the charts. Anyway, occasionally I train at Bishan clubfit too, I never had a problem with the trainers there...why did he forbid you to bench any weight heavier than the bar? I don't quite get what that means. You can only bench the olympic bar by itself?
He saw my small build and thus forbid me to do heavy stuff because he believes it will injure me. I respect this decision, but I did try to prove to him that I can handle it, by benching 60 kg for him, for a couple reps. Seeing that I bench that easily, he got angry and embarrassed, and became even more firm in forbidding me to lift too heavy. I know the story seems ridiculous, but sadly, this is true. I dislike being forbidden to lift heavy just because I am small. Hell, I can bench press 60kg for 20+ rep loh ( this is not that strong, I know, but at least this proves that I have some lifting knowledge...so he should have trusted that I would take care not to hurt myself).

Thanks again

Damn good lifts man...and at 81kg!!!

I'm currently towards the final stages of my training cycle...going for a Powerlifting meet in 3 weeks.

Will keep you guys updated.

Got 205kg x 5 x 3 for deadliftings tomorrow (my final day of 5 rep sets). Not sure if I can manage...but will give it my all anyway.

Peace out.
Doinker, I must ask, where is the powerlifting meet?? I never knew it exists in Singapore. Awesome, I must go.

Hey Ithunk..Never sleep? Good squats and deadlifts. I hope I am good for 3 plates deadlifts right now. I think can...only problem is grip.

Edit: I did not notice your mind blowing bench number of 140. Good stuff! I am bench dominant too and I hate it.:p

Why don't you try sunnybank.....you'll be surrounded by good old asian food.

Plus you'll be surrounded by all the asian grocery shops. Imagine cooking up a no fuss feast of bak kut teh or laksa.
Never miss singaporean food again hehe.

ahh.. but rental is the main issue. how did u managed to get a rented place without a job? bank statement? where to buy all the electrical appliances there? cash converter? main thing is school for my son and public transport. then need to search for a job there..

Long story short, my friend was here before me so he provided most of the required documents to rent. I had a job soon after so it was no problem at all moving 4 different places.

I bought some of my electrical appliances and furniture from friends. But you can get reasonably priced goods from second hand shops/dealers. Or you can buy the trading post papers if you prefer to deal directly with private sellers. Afterall, dealers do charge a higher price. Or you can go to www.guildonline.net. Possible to get really cheap stuff as students always post their stuff on this website. Never buy anything from cash converters thats for sure.

Hello to you too. I wouldn't want to armwrestle you thats for sure hehe.
Hey good luck in your life and lifting, and even strongman oriented stuff. Nah, you would win me easily in armwrestling. You are a beast..full squatting 210kg is NOT A JOKE. Benching three plates and deading over 5 plates means respect.

You are too strong for me to even budge your hand in armwrestling. Would be cool to meet such a good lifter.

Speaking of armwrestling, I am quite popular in school for my armwrestling power hehe. It is because I know about techniques, and I have an average strength base to support my technique. In fact I set up an armwrestling club once.

I just thought of a story. Want to share.

On 20th November, I was shooting basketball at school ball court. Then three secondary one gangsters approached me. The leader (let's call him Tom) was 1.75 and 70-80kg. I am not even 60kg and alot shorter. I recognised him as he led his henchmen towards me; I remember seeing him work out in the gym.

Tom said " BOY, lets play a match. Cos we have no ball. We want to play with your ball. 2 versus 2."

I was super angry. He clearly knew I am 4 years older than him (he had seen me a couple times in school gym), but he still outrageously called me "boy" to mock at my small size. Being a bit cowardly, I put up a smile and politely said "No, I wish to practise shooting alone."

He demanded two more times, and I declined two more times. He said " Walao, watching you shoot ball will make me SLEEP, you know?"

This made me infuriated..I kept my cool and firmly said I want to be alone.

They left and returned with a ball which they borrowed from someone. Gleefully, Tom said " Boy, see? We have our own ball now. No need for yours."

I was fuming from his utter disrespect to a senior who is four years older.

I said loudly " Here is the deal. Want to play match, right? Ok, I will armwrestle you first. If you win me, I will agree to play match with you."

His face showed utter shock. His mouth went agape ( I'm serious). His friends' sniggers froze. After thinking, he said softly, "Don't want..." But he turned away to scold me bad things softly.

I was mad now...I said " Be decisive. Don't dare, is it??"

He finally agreed, " Don't dare."

Till now, I am not sure why he did not dare to armwrestle me. Maybe he recalled seeing me benching 85kg or something (high school people think this kind of weight is mighty). Or maybe he saw the high intensity in my angry eyes. Or maybe it is my powerlifting aura haha. Small powerlifter aura.

Even if he had agreed to armwrestle, I would win.

Sorry for the story, I did not mean to mess up this thread with a stupid story.

Good story man.

I hate school kids who reckon they're top ****.

What technique you use? The Top-roll?

I used to arm wrestle a bit in school.

In year 10 (15 years old) I arm wrestled a Masedonian boy - strongest in our school at the time (he benched 120kg at 15 years old).

I held myself for a whopping 6 seconds!!!

Since then...I was motivated to work out.

Hey there. Cool that someone else also knows about techniques. I find that using the hook is the most beneficial way for me. My stout arm can just about pin down any kid using this haha. Because my forearm flexor is strong, and my wrist can tolerate stress. I guess top-roll is not for me as my forearm is not very long, so it is hard to execute. Also, manipulating the opponent's fingers feels awkward to me.

Wish I could armwrestle you:) I love losing as well as winning.

My birthday is 11.11.1989. Just turned 17, I hate being older. Once, when age eleven, I watched a Bruce Lee video and started lifting light weights. Actually, the serious lifting started from 15, I would say. Height, ahem....1.61 but I hope to grow taller haha.

I thank you for the praise but I have a lot of work to do with regards to deadlift haha! Now I train at home or school. Because right, that time I go Bishan Sports Hall gym, the old instructor forbid me to bench press any weight that is heavier than the bar. Wa lao...therefore I heck care outside gyms for now. When I bulk more and look bigger, I am sure they will not stop me again.

Oh that ******* old uncle ar?You are freakin strong for your weight sia.
